In a world torn apart by persecution, war and oppression, 3 children were chosen to offer a message of hope to the world.Based on the memoirs of the oldest Seer, Lucia Santos, and many thousands of independent eye-witness accounts, The 13th Day dramatizes the TRUE story of three young shepherds who experienced six interactive apparitions with a “Lady from Heaven” between May and October 1917, which culminated into the final prophesized Miracle.Abducted from their homes, thrown into prison and interrogated under the threat of death in the government’s attempt to silence them, the children remained true to their story. The lady, who later revealed herself to be the Blessed Mary, gave a SECRET to the children told in three parts, from a harrowing vision of hell, to prophetic warnings of future events including the advent and timing of the Second World War, the spread of communism, and the assassination of the Pope. All three Seers have since died. Two of them have been beatified.

Logan K (au) wrote: This could very well be the worst movie I've seen in 10 years. The script is just terrible. Shallow caracters (including the mandatory stoner/idiot in every low buget movie, too many plot holes to count, and bad acting. It might have been worth a laugh if the director knew how to direct. Which is obvious he does not. Please don't let his guy make another movie!

The film seems to be playing catch up to its ideas and despite the best efforts of Mackie and Washington, it never really makes it.

I appreciate Bob Newhart, Ed Asner, Mary Steenburgen, and James Caan doing their thing. Zooey Deschanel is super adorable, but I didn't recognize her at first. What can I say about Will Ferrell?? I'm not a big fan of Ferrell's man-child act. It took me over ten years to be exposed to this goofy flick, which I was at the previous Christmas get together with the in-laws. Call me a scrooge, I guess, but I didn't find Elf funny overall.

Chris W (gb) wrote: For a movie based on a true story about Hasidic Jews working as drug mules trafficking ecstasy in the late 90s this movie was really dull.Sure, maybe the limitations are the result of this being a low budget indie, but I think it would have been worse as a big budget major studio affair. The real issue is that the idea is inspired, but the script, direction, and acting are all lacking. I liked the idea of a young guy torn between religious studies and making tons of money in the drug trade, but they really dropped the ball with the concept here. It all felt rehashed, unoriginal, and jut kinda blah. It doesn't help that the lead is done by Jesse Eisenberg. I like him, but he just doesn't really appear to be trying here. Justin Bartha however is awesome. He gives the best performance, is the most interesting character, and the focus clearly should have been on him. I wasn't totally bored, but I didn't really care a whole lot either. Also, the washed out look really didn't fit for me and seemed unnecessary. You could see it, but I would ONLY recommend it for hardcore completists.
