Barry T (au) wrote: Dogtooth was a relly good debut film by this director and in some ways he aimed to shock and sensationlise the same way with this. Itsquirky and interesting but failed somewhat

Peter D (de) wrote: Not funny at all and a complete waste of my time. This movie tries to convince us that a bunch of sex scenes and nudity can pass for a plot, and it doesn't. The entire movie was corny and no believable at all. It felt like I was watching some amateur made movie created by some guy and his buddies. Not what I was expecting and really wish I had the time back I took to watch this.

Brian S (mx) wrote: So bad it's good zombie flick that bends over backward in giving nods to George Romero, particularly the original Dawn of the Dead. This is due, no doubt, to the starring role of Ken Foree. The zombies are pretty well done if not entirely consistent, but the real star here is the unbelievably cheezy script that has a professor spouting off ridiculous lines like, "There are worse thing than dying and becoming one of these shambling things. One could die without ever knowing what it was like to love and be loved." That this cornball line is delivered while hordes of zombies are smashing their way in makes it all the more laughable. There's even a gratuitous slow-motion leaping-through-the-air-while-firing-two-guns shot after which the character simply picks himself up and hurries off in the other direction without having accomplished anything noticeable. An unintentionally silly, overly earnest Serbian undead effort complete with a biblical verse-spouting generic character, a killer nun, and poor Ken Foree trying to run. Any director who makes Foree run is up to no good, and no good is what you'll find in "Zone of the Dead." Get ready to laugh.

Grant S (ca) wrote: Pretty dull. I guess the no-name cast and crew says it all...

David L (us) wrote: A tale about a young boys journey from escaping a prison camp to being reunited with his mother in Denmark. Not having ever been exposed to the outside world before, he encounters people, the concept of money, and a continuous dilemma of who he can trust along the way. With his only previous friend having been shot dead before he left, he can now only rely upon his memories and a handful of items that were left to him by his deceased comrade. I can honestly say that the only reason I watched this movie was because the title felt somewhat apt, not because I knew anything about it. I was really struggling to be entertained throughout as it was quite a slow, meaningless, and somewhat depressive plot, with next to no entertainment value. Yes, I can argue that the boy has acted it well, but to little avail as far as I'm concerned as there's nothing to get excited about here. I understand that films based on a story have to stick to the script to a large degree but what is the point in converting it to a film if not to engross its audience? It could just be my narrow minded view, but this just wasn't for me in any way, shape or form. I am David, and I like to entertain, but this David certainly did anything but.

Sylvester K (br) wrote: A parody of the beach movies, slashers and coming of age PSA films. Psycho Beach Party was somewhat amusing thanks to Ambrose's performance, though most of the lines felt forced.

Nick U (ag) wrote: 8/4/15 Amazon PrimeA good war story with some tense, realistic battle scenes that does a good job of capturing the fear, brutality and randomness of war. Especially liked the unexpected ending. Dialogue was pretty weak and the requisite poor leadership was there but otherwise good film.

Stuart K (ru) wrote: Directed by Scott Hicks (Snow Falling On Cedars (1999) and Hearts in Atlantis (2001)), this is a little low budget Australian film, which didn't have much in the way of stars, (well one or two English names), but it managed to capture the hearts and minds of moviegoers the world over, winning Geoffrey Rush a Best Actor Oscar, and catapulting him to stardom around the world, but it's a film with brilliant performances in it. This tells the story of pianist David Helfgott (Geoffrey Rush), who had a very troubled upbringing in Perth, when he was a teenager (Noah Taylor), he was a brilliant virtuoso pianist, but he was abused by his father Peter (Armin Mueller-Stahl). Despite this, David is given the opportunity to study at the Royal College of Music in London, where he studies under Cecil Parkes (John Gielgud). However, his behaviour becomes more manic, and he suffers a complete mental breakdown. On returning to Australia, he's rejected by his father, and spends years in and out of mental homes, but he soon finds work playing the piano in a restaurant, where he befriends Gillian (Lynn Redgrave), who he later marries. It's a brave film, which isn't afraid to shy away from it's subject of mental illness, but it's well made, and despite later criticism, it's a powerful and moving film with some lovely performances throughout.

We begin our sad, sad story many years in the past, where a stupid, ugly little malformed brat, that would be Luther, gets all freaked out when he witnesses a local side-show geek bite the head off a chicken. Then he gets his own teeth knocked out, and Hey-Presto, instant Jeffery Dahmer. Seriously. Yes, our dear little Luther grows up to be a psycho-killer ( qu'est ce que c'est...) Naturally, at his first parole hearing he is immediately released into the general public by a bunch of brain-dead bleeding hearts, or there would be no stinky moovie to sit through, and we'd all have to spend out time at KFC, eating a bucket of extra-crispy. Oh, and an-udder interesting detail: our very chic recently parolled psychopath sports metal teeth and clucks like a chicken all day. Really. All day long. :=8P Soooo, after ripping out the throats of various people and chickens with his metal choppers, this bad egg then besieges the farmhouse of a mother and her dumb, breasty daughter Beth, played vaccuously by Stacy Haiduk(tv series SeaQuest and The Kindred) . Haiduk's primary job in this flick is to git nekkid, and the MooCow moost say that our little henny penny goes at it with all the spunky aplomb of a drunken Tonya Harding shotgun-wedding. Van Damme can still kicks ass at his age, with the fight scenes being really well done, the action is exciting, love seeing Van Damme fight himself (again) and Rooker is as good as he has ever been.
