Dan A (ag) wrote: I only decided to watch this because I find it impossible to dislike Paul Rudd, and I enjoyed it quite a lot in the end. Yeah it's filled with fluff and typical "indie film" beats, but it's pleasant enough.

Brandon V (fr) wrote: I feel like this movie doesn't get nearly the amount of credit it deserves. Overlong and oddly paced, but really ambitious and out-of-the-box.

Samra M (kr) wrote: Raunchy (and fairly gross) version of a chick flick! Prolly made to appearl the male segment ... but wateva ...

Sean W (ag) wrote: Recommended for anyone who says they're a writer or who wants to be a writer. Thanks Mark for the sending it my way.

Brandon W (au) wrote: Whenever someone asks the question, "What movie do you watch and cry every time?" Normally I would say 13 Going On 30 (I'm kidding) but sometimes I would say Black Hawk Down. This is the closest thing to a Call of Duty: Modern Warfare movie. Ridley Scott does an amazing job with the set-pieces and the intensity. You really feel the thrill when the Hummers drive through the streets while Militia fire at them from every angle. Watching this film now, you recognize so many people. Sure I always noticed William Fichtner, Ewan McGregor, Eric Bana and Orlando Bloom, but now I recognize Jeremy Piven, Tom Hardy and Ty Burrell (The father from Modern Family). One hell of a cast in one hell of an intense war film. One of my all-time favourites!

David S (ru) wrote: The emotionally charged autobiography of war hero turned anti-war activist Ron Kovic. Tom Cruise turns in a wonderful performance as Kovic in this gripping tale of the evils of war on the mind and psyche of an individual, the innocent casualties that come with war, and the despair that war veterans face when they come home from an unpopular war. Like Johnny Got His Gun has done for literature (which a copy is brilliantly and strategically displayed on-screen in this movie), Born on the Fourth of July has done with film; that is, take a happy-go-lucky young lad who feels destined to fight for his country, show nave patriotism, and turn him and his world upside down by showing the unnecessary reasons for war, the disgusting treatment of soldiers in its aftermath, and the political corruptions that coincide with war. As for any downsides, there was a strange seemingly Disney-like musical riff that played throughout the movie, and it very often did not fit the accompanying, darker-toned scenes.

JAY t (ca) wrote: One reviewer described this movie as coming up "fresh as paint" each time he sees it. I couldn't agree more. It's always a treat, both aural and visual, and I find these characters people I'd like to know. I recommend it!

Kan T (ag) wrote: You want the film end after the first 10 minutes!!! A total failure!!!

Hobie P (nl) wrote: I enjoyed Gunnar Hansen & Linnea Quigley but the plot is kind of slow.

Michael L (ag) wrote: It may take huge liberties with the truth, but it's still a compelling film and Lancaster is terrific.
