(fr) wrote: good but not great. all the best parts were in the previews pretty much.
(ru) wrote: It was almost a reverse of Crooklyn where instead of a child going to the south and coming of age its a child going to Red Hook. And I guess you have to like Spike Lee visions to understand what he is trying to do. It almost felt like an answer to Tyler Perry movies because he had the religious connotations and then his version of having meaningless petty drama amongst church people was used as a device to address a very serious issue within the black church community where children are molested and its swept under the rug because of adult retrograde thinking and behavior.

(jp) wrote: Not funny enough to be a comedy, and not tough enough to be a drama. It's so sad when movies straddle the fence like this.
(au) wrote: Watched it in 1993, I was then a child, yet it left such remarkable memory on my mind, I still cherish this film, as one of those most-memorable films of mine. Loved the performance of Robin Williams.
(fr) wrote: watched this with my dad and brother. I'm pretty sure we all sat together 18 years ago watching this and laughed just as hard. Good movie.
(nl) wrote: Sure it doesn't make a lick of sense but YOU try giving a cast that great less than 3 stars.

(gb) wrote: Garden State may come off as fake to most people but to me it's near perfect. Zach Braff gives a great performance for a guy who just wants to feel again, Natalie Portman brings a fresh twist to the manic pixie dream girl, and the script masterfully diverts between comedy and drama. Oh yeah, and the soundtrack is hella rad.
