Kerr L (jp) wrote: this is a very well made film but very hard to watch in parts. possibly too authentic for the subject matter. but then that's what good art does: unsettles you and makes you horrified and angry as all hell. especially when is based on a truly awful real story.

Mauricio A (mx) wrote: An excellent character study of a man who has invested most of his life into a singular and very specific craft and how that passion affects those closest to him. Jiro Ono the man, is frail and singularly focused on providing what could be described as a succulent gift in every single bite his restaurants serves to customers. As the legend, he is arguably the world's greatest sushi chef. This documentary explorers both the legend and peaks at the man behind it, giving us a full treat of one of Japan's culinary greats.Worth watching. Especially if you love cooking.

Dave R (br) wrote: i'm a city boy and i hate the suburbs - maybe this movie helps explain my hostility towards the suburbs... there's just something hollow about the's kind of a darker version of kevin smith's "clerks" and similar in some ways to linklater's earlier work "dazed & confused". i thought it was a well done exploration of character "types" as they try and make the transition into adulthood - which seems/seemed to be a real problem for generation x.i've read some reviews that say the characters aren't real and the dialogue isn't good - but to me that's what makes it so real. most people talk shit when they are out drinking with their friends and they don't always make sense. the situation in this movie may seem unnatural but if you're in your 20's or older you've more than likely had conversations like those in the movie.
