(it) wrote: Whatta gem!Up close and personal look at a family unit going through their hardest year of being together and how they cope from month to month, bookended by Mum starting the year by suffering a brain aneurysm, and ending with....well, that's be telling.Honest observation of people under pressure, and how in the darkest times they can still shine in the smallest but most meaningful ways, it's cleverly tied in with some rye looks at modern commercialism, and sexual advertising. Mainly it's wonderfully tense without being contrived and hugely affirming when you least expect it, and chock full of some brilliant dark, dry humor. It's american cousin would possibly be something like "Little Miss Sunshine", but the film in no imitator and remains and Australian original. In particular I loved how the director played with the audience a bit, setting you up for what you would normally think was a standard movie route, before leading you somewhere else altogether. Great cast, the family were uniformly superb down to their smallest members, and supporting stories were just as engaging. Great cinema , pure and simple.

(mx) wrote: I'm 110% disgusted by this flick. You will not catch me watching another Ellen Page movie after this, and I will /never/ see anything directed by David Slade ever again. I practically vomited midway through the climax of the movie.
(it) wrote: Again, another criminally underrated movie by RT community, this effective Italian drama features a superb central performance by Giovanna Mezzogiorno, and characters that one can relate to in reality. The relationships between Giovanna and her husband/neighbor/Simone the old man all feel genuine. And the dilemmas she live sound true and compelling. I recommend this for anyone who appreciates character-driven dramas, where the focus is on the development of these characters and narrating a simple yet effective story, with one really heart-wrenching subplot about one old man's lost love.

(br) wrote: Dull and predictable time machine movie, that takes a group of archaeologists back to France in the mid 13th century, full of clichs and half hearted acting.
(us) wrote: A good modern Giallo feature with some gruesome maiming effects. I was surprised to see Max Von Sydow in this, and i loved his part as the aging retired detective coming back to solve an old case. All in all a fun movie for horror/giallo fans.
(kr) wrote: This film's foundation was neither evenly distributed nor constructed of the same material, which would have caused the entire concept to collapse if it weren't for the writers completely forgoing the laws of nature with their strange attempt of making this idea make sense. This film will satisfy you visually more than mentally.
(au) wrote: bizarre to the max though in a sorta intriguing way. the Cranberries soundtrack lent a rather haunting, hypnotic air of sadness.
(ca) wrote: Two drifters enter an uneasy alliance with the man who has stolen their large sum of cash; himself with aims of avenging a wrongdoing some fifteen years prior. A solid spaghetti western (clearly mimicking Leone) with small doses of humour. Sequel to 'God Forgives... I Don't'.
