The Climber

The Climber

Dallesandro gives a shockingly good performance in this gritty, hard-hitting crime flick. He plays a hungry young buck who aspires to be a career criminal. He starts out working at a warehouse for a gangster where he helps to relocate illegal contraband, and because of his ruthlessness and dependability he begins to ascend the ladder of organized crime. Of course, the more powerful he becomes, the more "Climbers" come out of the shadows to take his place.

I think Chris Klein was told to snort coke to give him those bug eyes. His lookaways and intense stares are so classic and super cheesy. Some of the sound effects were taken from the video game and it was pretty horrible. It's equal to the crap sandwich that had JCVDamme. Kristen Kreuek was good considering what she had to work with. Fight choreography was not bad either.Still there was more bad than good for me. I found myself asking, why are some of these characters even in here? I know they can't all be great but this one was just not up to par.

Rikki C (kr) wrote: The ending of this film is very weird and disappointing because the finale is over in a flash but the rest is fun and has a lot of sentimental value for me

Anthony I (jp) wrote: There's Miyazaki, there's Aardman, and then there's Sylvain Chomet. A modern master animator. He's top of the heap in France. The film that gained him notoriety in the States, and the worldwide community of art, is The Triplets of Belleville. It's such a wonderfully strange film. The characters are so, distinctly, odd in their own special ways, and they inhabit a beautiful, pseudo-France landscape, that has it's own Manhattan. If you love classics from Disney, Pixar or Miyazaki, you need to see this. This is the best looking hand-drawn film of the 2000's. I really had a blast.

Zaron N (mx) wrote: A pretty good Samurai drama. Hideo Gosha obviously got most of his storytelling and cinematography ideas from Akira Kurosawa. My only real complaint is the protagonist's wife's bad teeth. It was really unpleasent to look at and led me to wonder why the protagonist didn't dump her for the other girl in the movie.

Walter M (de) wrote: In Fear and Desire," four soldiers are shot down behind enemy lines and crash land in an unnamed war. Lieutenant Corby(Kenneth Harp) proposes building a raft but fears they may have been spotted by enemy aircraft on the way to a cottage across the river where they spot an enemy general. In fact, they run into a native young woman(Virginia Leith) who Corby puts Sidney(Paul Mazursky) in charge of keeping an eye on while they reconnoiter. Contrary to what he might have felt later, Stanley Kubrick has nothing to be ashamed with his first film, "Fear and Desire." Here, strangely enough he is influenced by "The Tempest" to take a psychological angle by using internal voices and dreamlike imagery in exploring the horrors of war on an intimate and haunting scale(again proving that sometimes it is best not to know what you are doing), foreshadowing his later work in "Full Metal Jacket."

Vuk O (de) wrote: When Action Bronson explained he got his name from Action Jackson, I was once again reminded I have to see this movie. Maybe I watched it as a kid, on VHS - I had some slight flashbacks - but watching it now was pure joy. It's like The Last Boy Scout, only sillier and more over the top. You've got Apollo Creed as Jackson, 80s one hit wonder and Prince's protege Vanity as the bad girl gone good (but she was always good, yo, just in the wrong crowd), Craig T. Nelson as the slimy villain, Sharon Stone as his naive babe, and a bunch of assassins and goons that are just perfect stereotypes of the action genre. Action Bronson is a loose cannon cop, has a police captain that is always on the verge of insanity because of the damage he does while busting crime, he can fornicate with women just by looking at them, he can destroy cars with his bare hands, and has biceps as big as The Rock himself. As far as fun, action-packed, 'so bad it's good' movies go, this is a stellar masterpiece.
