Spyros T (gb) wrote: Cemetery Junction is the most dramatic film Gervais has done and while it fails to be truly original or groundbreaking, a warm script, and cosy nostalgic setting, with relatable characters and an old-fashioned likeable narrative, make this an underappreciated gem. I think many people watch films with very fixed expectations - just because its a Ricky Gervais film doesn't mean it's going to be just like his stand up or Extras. You might expect from the previous Gervais/Merchant joints that this would be a comedy full of painfully embarrassing moments. It is anything but, less comedy and more coming of age drama. There are some usual Gervais jokes, but there are fewer laughs overall and a lot more depth. My favourite scene is at the insurance companies party, when the old retiring guy is given a glass bowl for many years of services, which is sort of heartbreaking and says so much.

Shauna M (gb) wrote: A sometimes dull watch, however Kranski's adorable sexiness is worth the watch. Average acting, a done-to-death plot, and an ending that makes no sense, perhaps for lack of character development/background on the part of the trio of friends. Worth a watch if there's nothing good on TV, but aside from the cuteness, somewhat forgettable.

Jennie R (gb) wrote: Not a bad film. At one point of the film, I was crying like crazy. It is touching but the characters lack a certain depth. Robin Williams wears some teeth that make him look strange but are supposed to make him look retarded which seems odd to me. I never cared enough for any of the characters.

peter t (de) wrote: I really wanted to like the beyond and have only seen it once so will have to re-watch. It's a good stylistic film, but it seems full of too mainly pointless things. As we think the plot is progressing we are left confused - things just seem to happen and people seem to discover things but we are never given an explanation to why. If you like surreal films this will probably work. I do like some surreal type films e.g. Suspira, but with the likes of Suspira there's at least some sense. The beyond doesn't lack in gore, but it seems to lack in sense completely

Guido S (jp) wrote: Everyone is back, this time his daughter is pregnant and eventually his wife is also pregnant. So he copes with being both a new father and a grandfather at the same time. No where near as good as the first film

Ashley C (us) wrote: Reasonably entertaining B-movie, which seems as much inspired by Hitchcock's Shadow of a Doubt as by the Dracula mythos. Francis Lederer won't make you say, "Bela who?" but he does bring some genuine charisma to the title role. The repeated use of the public domain "Dies Irae" as Dracula's theme is a nice, schlocky touch.

Gordon B (ca) wrote: There is unquestionable beauty, skill, and sincerity in this classic, but there is something a little too safe about the central conflict in this film . Why does the movie never asks anything of its audience ?
