The Cult of the Suicide Bomber

The Cult of the Suicide Bomber

Their devastating and deadly actions punctuate the world news almost nightly, yet they remain faceless figures amidst the violence and turmoil that engulf the Middle East. And, whether it’s the C4-laden martyrs of Hezbollah or the car bombing insurgents of Iraq, what could possibly compel a suicide bomber to voluntarily take their own lives, along with those of hundreds of innocent victims? There is perhaps no one better equipped to investigate this terrifying practice than Robert Baer, a decorated, former Middle East CIA Agent and the man George Clooney’s character was based on in the Academy Award®-winning film, Syriana.

Sorin H (nl) wrote: One can't reasonably wait to film someone's mourning ritual in a way similar to waiting for a plane to take off. Or can he? It's a mystery...

Justin B (ru) wrote: Wicked over the top violence and great characters. One of Rodriguez's best films.

bruce w (ag) wrote: as real as it gets flawless performances crafted in the tone of the era the doctor was not his driver in real life is the only flaw real good guitar, fiddle and pedal steel guitar work is totally entertaining you don't have to love American music to love this classic film that so few have ever witnessed

Diana H (ru) wrote: Watched this on late nite TV for the first time. I loved it!

Robert H (ru) wrote: Oliver isn't a perfect adaptation of the famous novel from Charles Dickens' but thanks to some great music, it is quite memorable. The film has a feeling of being incomplete. Aspects aren't quite flushed out or they're simply glossed over. It's almost as if the viewer needs to have a prior understanding or knowledge of the story or the history in order for everything to be known.Where the film truly shines is in the sets, acting, costumes and of course the music. You may not remember the film but if you're 20+ years of age I would hope that you would have seen it at least once. If that's the case, you'll easily remember the songs. I particularly enjoyed the big dance numbers myself.Oliver isn't a perfect film but it does have a lot going for it. Fans of musicals are sure to enjoy this classic that will leave you asking for more.
