(au) wrote: Chasing Mavericks, based on a true story. Jay Moriarity (weston) is a famous big wave surfer. The movie tells his story as he is growing up how he is trained by another veteran surfer, 'frosty' (butler). The wave he is so desperate to chase is the waves known as the mavericks off of half moon bay. The movie is itself very cinematic and excellent for surfing fans. Well put together and Butler plays a decent different role to the norm. Very visual and the imagery is stunning. Enjoyable and heart warming.

(ru) wrote: This could have been a really good film based off of history. Instead, the creators decided to create a nearly completely fictional film not following actual historical events. One of the largest discrepancies was how the film portrayed, and even centered around, a large group of "Christians" happily burning down the library. Didn't happen. 1.) The library had already been burnt down before the time period portrayed in the film. 2.) Julias Ceasar (not even a "christian") accidentally burnt down the library when he attacked Alexandria around 48 AD.
