Filipino-American high school student Ben (Dante Mercado) works in a comic book shop to earn money to pay his way into Cal Arts. His father, a postman, is determined that his son--who has won a pre-med scholarship to UCLA--will become a doctor. The eighteenth birthday party of Ben's sister, Rose, sets off a comedic and touching series of events and family struggles that will in turn determine young Ben's future. This fresh independent production from Gene Cajayon presents a lighthearted and warm coming-of-age tale filtered through the eyes of an American subculture rarely seen on film.

(kr) wrote: Finally, a horror comedy about a werewolf policeman. But that's not all it's about, there's a twist I definitely didn't see coming. Funny but not hilarious.
(ca) wrote: Holy cow is this movie bad. It appears promising in the beginning but drops off fast. Brandon Routh is the only upside to this film.
(ru) wrote: Yeah this type of movie isn't for me, I hate movies filmed in 1st person, it made my head hurt with all the shakiness.Positives: Meh, a godzilla type of monsterNegatives: Prepare for a headache.
(au) wrote: Unbelievable that this can happen in the USA.......
(br) wrote: This was absolutely horrible. Every time that they tried to do something that was very different from the normal romantic comedy it backfired right in their faces. Making it completely not funny and just immature.
(mx) wrote: Wow, I thought it was pretty good. Not sure about all the poor ratings..
(de) wrote: Pretty good doc about Kubrick even if it doesn't really reveal anything that unknown about the man already.

(es) wrote: After watching it again in years, it still has not lost its magic. The way the story and the themes intertwine throughout the film so effortlessly is something all filmmakers should admire to this day.
(au) wrote: Watched this because I'd heard it described as "stylish" and a "cult hit" but I'm now quite angry that I lost the time I spent watching it. An ineffective Namibia/South Africa-set "horror" with a poor cast who deliver terrible performances from a stilted script, it's hard to see why anyone would have liked this. The "style" that was mentioned somewhere seems to consist mainly of an over-use of red lens filters. The only points of trivial interest are the appearance of Lieutenant Eckhardt (William Hootkins) from Batman as a slightly more principled cop and Chelsea Field, who played Man at Arms's daughter Teela in the Masters of the Universe movie (also god awful, obviously) as the female protagonist. Stuff happens, stuff happens, the end. Fucking rubbish.
(es) wrote: A pioneer in what cinema is today, Pudovkin helped establish the Soviet Montage theory which is essential to every movie that is made. "Konets Sankt-Peterburga" has some pretty outstanding sequences, but the film's purpose is that of propoganda. Because of that, I found the story weak and unrealistic. Even though that may have been the point, to embellish the Russian Revolution of 1917, it still doesn't make for that entertaining of a film. Technically though, the film has a lot to offer.
(br) wrote: Disgustingly 90's "Love Actually", sure this came first, but holy hell. Cheesy lines, boring story, and mostly interesting characters, really make this movie painful to watch. The only saving grace is Sean Connery and Jon Stewart, but even with them, there are lots of problems to be had. I guess, I can say the movie didn't drag, but it wasn't a quick affair either. Also I fill like the mother-son relationship was too forced and didn't have much emotional weight to it, but that's the least of this movie's problems. Watch for a few laughs at how disgusting the 90's was and then move on with your life.PROS: Sean Connery, Jon Stewart, a few laughsCONS: Everything else
(kr) wrote: Fun as hell, and nobody has to "pay a price" for enjoying themselves. This movie knows exactly what it should be and goes for it. I had a great time, laughed a few times and loved the complete lack of moralizing. This type of situational movie has the tendency to let too much plot and antics get in the way. I feel like these characters are already well developed, so I didn't miss the lack of dramatic moments when BIG feelings are revealed. These guys know who they are, they're having a party, just enjoy. All it needs to be.
