Keith S (us) wrote: This movie was okay. It tried to be a tragedy with a silver lining. The problem was that the comic relief wasn't funny so you became numb to the sadness, remorse, regret, self loathing and what not that was the main stay to the rest of the movie. David Schwimmer did a pretty decent job. He fit well for the role. Janeane Garofalo was good. I think this is the skinniest I have ever seen her. Bleach bottle blond too... It was weird.

Barney o (ag) wrote: WHAT I LIKED: The last act of 'For Your Eyes Only' is super engaging as it's one of those stories where everything comes together really nicely. We also get a fairly good villain and a slightly 'Spy Who Loved Me' style love interest, which is refreshing to see once again.WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE: The main issue here is that it takes an awfully long time to get going. This makes for a pretty forgettable and disengaging first half that contains all sorts of unnecessary quips and action sequences.VERDICT: Once you're in the thick of it it's enjoyable, but the build-up is pretty slow and dull. 'For Your Eyes Only' is neither Moore's best, nor by any means his worst.

Ian G (es) wrote: In what is one of Phillip Seymore Hoffman's final screen performances before his untimely death earlier this year, he plays one of the blue collared cons in the small town of God's Pocket who seems to be the perpetual screw up in life and work, and seems to be continually going downhill after the death of his son while on the job. Even though this project seems to have collected a bevy of actors towards this piece from Hoffman, Tuturro, Hendricks and Jenkins, the film still struggles with the ever weird tone whether it wants to be a tragedy, small town drama or a dark comedy of sorts which seems to add an unfortunate disconnect for the audience. Normally wouldn't be an issue and just adds the film to the remainder bin but since it is one of the last time we will see Hoffman on screen you would wish for something a little grander here.
