The Eclipse

The Eclipse

Michael Farr (Hinds) is a widower living in a misty Irish seaside town who is struggling to adjust to his new role as the sole caretaker of his two children. Still reeling from the death of his wife, he has been plagued by terrifying apparitions. When he volunteers at a local literary festival, he finds himself drawn to Lena Morelle (Hjejle), an empathetic author of supernatural fiction (Hjelje). While Lena tries to help Michael with the mystery of his nightmarish visions, she must contend with problems of her own—she’s being jealously pursued by a self-obsessed novelist (Quinn), her one-time lover. As the three adults’ lives converge, the turbulence of the phantom world will soon have nothing on that of the living.

Paula M (it) wrote: Thomas Jane and John Cusack in a very low budget movie the plot was good but the action sequences left something to be desired. not a bad flick but could have been so much better.

Loreno v (de) wrote: "A One Night Experiment in Infidelity"A young couple decides to give each other a night off, no questions asked. REVIEWWhat The Freebie is is naturalistic drama done right. The story is simple: a happy couple decide to "fix" their bedroom apathy by taking a single night to go out and share some bone with a stranger. Both Katie Aselton and Shepard are fantastic, both as lovers and as people going through a mighty big challenge together. Much of the dialogue in the first two acts plays through in a way that makes you wish it was your relationship - the two leads seeming so uniquely happy together at times that you get the feeling that Aselton took from her personal life for the script. Things change a bit in the third act, as they should. Things get, well, heavy.Knowing that the writer/director, Aselton, is married to actor/writer/director Mark Duplass, I half expected the film to have a Mumblecore vibe. Not really the case. The cinematography is solid, if simple, the picture always looking big and bright and, at times, quite stylized. And sure, the writing and acting are great, but it's the combination of clever editing and the believable bond between the two leads that really make this thing work.

David M (nl) wrote: Perfect rubbish. Watch it if you are depressed - it may cheer you up. Or not. It's up there with 'The Road' as a film to cut your wrists by. But at least 'The Road' was a good movie.

Alan G (jp) wrote: This film is only funny if you know ahead of time that it's not a real documentary. And it only has a real impact if you think it's a real documentary. So either way, you lose.

Krista B (gb) wrote: There was a cute idea here, but unfortunately it was lost due to amateur writing and filmmaking. For a film that advertises itself as "The First Slasher Musical," there is a very disappointing lack of both musical numbers and slasher movie elements. Instead, Splatter Disco focuses more on a love story at a fetish club. Or something. Honestly, it's a very boring film and I did eventually stop paying attention. I do wish I could find something good in this, or at least commend the filmmakers for trying, but it really is pretty bad. Ah well - better luck next time to those involved.

Waleed A (nl) wrote: Remarkable. Phenomenal. the best superhero movie ever made. Definitely the best villain in ANY movie, not just superhero movies. The story was awesome, the action was awesome, the acting was elite, the situations in the movie were unique and creative. The film continues the story from the original very well. The psychological aspects of Bruce Wayne from the first film are still prevalent. And the Joker. Wow the Joker. So perfect. So evil. So villainous. Heath Ledger did a ridiculously awesome job. Furthermore, the way the story was written perfectly encapsulates the Joker's character. The Joker's plans and intentions were so different from those of any other villain. This film will live on as the GOAT. (6 viewings)

Colin F (au) wrote: Excellent film, very original and underatted. When a police team goes undercover with football hooligans, they become more involved then they should do and one of the officers John aka Joe from Coronation Street! (Actually giving a performance he deserves an oscar for) starts to turn into a hooligan taking the undercover to far. Featured great performaces from also Sean Pertwee, Warren Clarke and a young Gene Hunt! "F----ng love you gumbo!"
