Thomas B (fr) wrote: ****I honestly don't understand the hate this movie gets. It's a bit too long and its pacing isn't perfect, but other than that I can find no flaws with Superman Returns. It's a really good superhero movie that doesn't deserve the poor reputation its garnered, mostly from moviegoers who weren't happy simply because there wasn't enough action. Grow up people!

He tries to convert the Indians to his religion and beliefs; however, he questions his own urges and culture when he observes their behaviors. His mission is threatened when a rival tribe kidnaps him and his Indian companions. "They have hairy faces, like dogs. Who are they?" Bruce Beresford, director of Her Alibi, Driving Miss Daisy, A Good Man in Africa, Double Jeopardy, Orpheus, and The Contract, delivers Black Robe. The storyline for this picture is interesting and well delivered. The content is well researched and well thought out. The settings are fascinating and depict the story perfectly. The acting is better than average and the cast includes Lothaire Bluteau (Dead Heat), Aden Young (Paradise Road), and Sandrine Holt (Starship Troopers 2 and The Dark Room). "We're not colonizing the Indians. They are colonizing us." Black Robe is a film I watched as a kid and remembered it being underrated compared to similar picture such as Dancing with Wolves. This movie may be a bit underrated due to not having a major actor tied to this movie. The plot is marvelous, the settings are fascinating, and the overall conclusion is worthwhile. This is a drama that is worth seeing at least once. "Leave the forest to the savages." Grade: B

Jonathan P (mx) wrote: A young Johnny Depp and Rob Morrow really show some acting chops with a typical 80s script that offers very little in the way of actual plot and substance. The cast is surprisingly strong for the style of film with Depp and Morrow surrounded by the likes of Hector Elizonodo. Private Resort is better than the plethora of films dealing with the same subject matter but would have been better with an original plot and some actual substance.

Johan A (mx) wrote: One of the best Swedish film ever made! It is funny and beutiful at the same time. It presents some very special imagery indeed, and the whole film sort of reminds of a nice Picasso paninting.

Thurston P (au) wrote: Errol Flynn at his best - animated and most alive actor ever! great fun and good story.

Irish E (it) wrote: This is a cute movie that has some laugh out loud moments. It takes a while for the storyline to get going. Of course it has a happy ending.

Carole T (gb) wrote: What a dull film...surprising seeing as Mandela's story is legendary. Can't fault Elba's performance though.
