Luke R (nl) wrote: When I found out that this film was being made I almost wept. The tale of the three kingdoms is one of my favourite stories of all time and it is impeccably shown on the screen by John Woo. The battle scenes in this film make Gladiator and The Lord of the Rings look ordinary.

Nadia C (kr) wrote: They think that Mark Ruffalo best performances are in "The kids are all right" and "Foxcather", but for me it's this one. When the movie came out he was a young actor, still unknown to the audience. He plays a troubled character, paying a visit to his big sister in his hometown. He brings a lot of problems to his sister that at some point she doesn't want him around his son anymore. But the last scene, when they wait for the bus and say goodbye to each other, is really sweet. They still care for each other and can count on each other.

Paul R (fr) wrote: This is a great little comedy drama. East is East follows a Muslim family living in London in the 70(TM)s. The father wants his children to follow the traditional Muslim ways but finds his sons have slightly different ideas. There are a host of great characters and performances - especially from the Father who(TM)s struggling to keep the family together. They all make the family very real. It(TM)s a odd pairing between drama and comedy as one minute you are chuckling and the next you can be thrown into very dramatic and serious scenes. Overall, a well put together film with a great cast. It all works very well.

victor l (br) wrote: Nosotoros los Pobres is one of the most emblematic films in Mexican Cinema History, the movie is set in a very poor hood in Mexico City and develops different tragedies: most of them are injustices caused by Chachita and Pedro Infante's pittiful economical situation. Pepe El Toro is an irresistible lover, he has a girlfriend whom he calls "Chorreada" and despite the doubts she has about him, she's really in love and willing to fight for his love: no matter distance, gossips, mystery, danger... The melodrama is really touching and well-achieved.

Jess L (nl) wrote: Truly a classic, Bette Davis is amazing in this film. I can't fault this movie, the story is engaging and heartfelt and has one the most incredible and memorable last lines in movie history. I suppose you would describe it as a story of an ugly ducking becoming a swan. It really is a beautiful film in both story, acting and direction. They don't make films of this caliber anymore.

Ben T (br) wrote: It still can't get rid of the parody-films' essence. But thanks to funny plot and clever character description, Scary Movie becomes one of the best parody-films ever made.

Ed C (ca) wrote: One line summary: Action romp in mythological setting that is both silly and fun.---------------- The goddess Freyja raises former King Eirick from the dead. The god Frey encourages Eirick to seek the Horn of Helheim, since only the undead can venture there and return. Eirick gathers a ship and two close allies (Brynna and Sven) on the way to a nearby kingdom where the king remembers and likes him. He gathers more allies and sets off to find the druid Alcuin, who shows him the way to Helheim. Eirick obtains the Horn with the help of the shade of his father, who informs him that his real father was someone else. Great stuff. Eirick and company proceed to Eirick's former kingdom, where his younger brother now rules. They are betrayed, but still manage to get to the meeting with Thor before the time of the 'Blood Eclipse' of the sun, which occurs once every 800 years. Thor has the Hammer of the Gods (Mjolnir) from Valhalla, the Horn Eirick liberated from Helheim, and the 'Necklace of Mary Magdalene' from Midgard. The stakes are supposedly rather high at this event. In any case, secrets are revealed, and a climactic battle ensues. The ending begs for a sequel.-----Scores----- Cinematography: 6/10 Some of the camera work is fine, but a lot of it is sub-VHS quality. Sound: 6/10 Mostly OK. Acting: 6/10 Good enough to keep up with the screenplay. Screenplay: 7/10 The story moves right along, which is exactly what one wants from an action film with so-so mythological underpinnings.
