The story of legendary jazz drummer, Gene Krupa. Since his youth, all Gene ever wanted to do is play the drums and make music. This is something his parents would not approve of- they want him to be a priest. When Gene's father dies he promises to enter the priesthood. He soon realizes that he doesn't belong there and leaves to join his friend, Eddie's band. Ethel, Eddie's girlfriend, convinces Gene to go to New York and make it big. The 3 of them head to New York. Here Ethel and Gene soon fall in love and Gene makes a name for himself. Gene starts to live in the fast lane, with drugs, alcohol, women and parties. Ethel, unhappy with Gene's lifestyle, leaves him. Gene soon "hits rock bottom" where he has to face reality and choose where to take his life.

Marla K (de) wrote: A charming, funny, and touching "romcom." Saw it at the St. Louis International Film Festival...was submitted by Sweden as its Academy Award nominee for foreign film last year but didn't make it...comedies never get the respect they deserve! Rent it if you see it on Netflix!

Anthony L (ag) wrote: The first "proper" sequel to the great Dracula (USA Horror of Dracula) produced by Hammer, though its one of the better movies in the series it still pales in comparison to the mighty original (the thrilling conclusion of which provides this film's first few minutes)... Christopher Lee takes up the cape and Fangs for the second time but has apparently lost his voice and has to resort to mime and gurns but still manages to be effective none the less... Its a shame Lee doesn't get to speak, its that mix of proper speaking and animal stalking that gives the character a real sense of danger! though he regains speach by "Dracula has risen from the grave", despite this much discussed element of Prince of darkness we still have a stellar sequel (if we can call it that) with plenty of stoking imagery and some great shocks and thrills, plenty of gothic camp... Highlights include Dracula's ressurection and icey demise!
