Brad G (es) wrote: You either recognize that Harlan Ellison is one of the great literary giants of our time or you??re a moron. Now, if that offends you then I??m guessing this documentary is not for you. Harlan Ellison is a goblin. He??s amazing and hilarious, but he??s also a Double D asshole who can drive some people absolutely bugnuts crazy with rage. And that??s why I like him. And his book Deathbird Stories changed my life. So if you want watch a documentary that is as much about his insane ego as it is about his life and talent then this is for you. Ellison haters can go jump off a cliff. VF.

Valrie Lemercie is absolutely great as Catherine Versen, the almost middle aged soap opera actress who yearns to do a play by Georges Feydeau. The restaurant scene with Sydney Pollack is the best!!!

I didn't see in until 2015 and I enjoyed it. The animation is very nice to look at and the plot is briskly paced, albeit incoherent. The film suffers from some issues, mainly dealing with the character development. Milo is your typical geeky but well-meaning hero. He's not one of the most memorable Disney protagonists. The villain is just your typical greedy bastard who wants to destroy Atlantis for money and nothing else. Kida is kind of bland, but she's okay. I thought the Atlantean culture was pretty cool, as well as the people. What I really enjoyed in the movie were the side characters. They are such a delightful crew of oddballs. They're really funny and unique, and the climax is fun. The plot is still incoherent and the main characters aren't very interesting. I was kind of annoyed that the film is an hour and a half long because I wanted to see more of Atlantis itself. The film is also pretty corny and stupid at times. But I think I like it better than most people. It's not really good but not really bad either. I actually think it's decent. Atlantis - The Lost Empire isn't one of the best Disney films, but it's a fun adventure. It's worth a viewing or two

Shawn F (mx) wrote: I did not love this movie nearly as much as I did "White Lightning". A lot of the magic that made that first movie so great is just not here. The dirty rural southern atmosphere, Ned Beatty, R.G. Armstrong, the awesome car and ,of course, the shine. This sequel also is not as serious as the original. They throw in some comic relief via Alice Ghostley and the Burt in this movie is more of the lighter fare Burt than the serious Burt in his earlier movies. The romantic relationship between Burt and Hutton also manages to really slow down and drag out the second half of the movie making the movie a bit overlong. All those things said, it is still enjoyable and worth a watch. Jerry Reed is great as the southern gangster Bama McCall. He also performs the title song. Hal Needham did the second unit direction on this film as he did in "White Lightning".

Salim I (ag) wrote: Awesome Sci-fi entertainment. It's creative, it's silly, it's wacky, it's visually rich, and it works. Terry Gilliam creates a film with pure originality and humor and gives us a feast for the imagination.
Brett B (jp) wrote: There are some moments that are truly gorgeous, and the film is a technical and logistical marvel, but Ridley Scott treats the material with an overblown self-importance that begins to verge on parody as the film progresses. Compounding that is the lead performance by Depardieu, who feels like he's reaching for serious gravitas but can't get there. The movie's a misfire, but an interesting one, as it provides a template for the sort of historical epic filmmaking that Scott would perfect in the following decade. One last positive feature: the electronics-laden musical score by Vangelis which - while anachronistic - is suitably (and enjoyably) optimistic.
