Ok, so the reason we continue to re-watch this film is for the music and the performances. The story, while pretty good and entertaining, never really goes anywhere and doesn't really have a conclusion. The characters are fantastic, every song is fantastic, and nothing can really beat getting to watch Prince leave it all on the stage. A fantastic film.

Backed by a lush and heartbreaking score and one of the most powerful art forms of a prelude, the story touches upon the beautiful and terrifying life themes of love, romance, adventure, violence, death, and family all in one rousing piece of cinema.

Julie Andrews is a master of the silver screen and doesn't tap a foot wrong, so it's no wonder the camera keeps cutting back to her during the best dance numbers, even when she's merely stationary. Much of the fantasy and animation feels dated, along with some of the plotlines, but modern audiences can still be swayed by at least half of the songs and almost all of the time that either Dick van Dyke or Julie Andrews are in shot.
