(mx) wrote: The movie is not flawless, all in all, but is has many facets that deserve credit. A story about a conservative local hero suffering from a stroke and finding a friend in a drag queen would have been new a couple of decades ago, but does not offer any new insights by itself. However, the great performances by De Niro and Hoffman really captivated me. I haven't heard of Hoffman back when it was released and it has been a real relevation. Worth watching just to follow this fine actors bring life to a seemingly lifeless subject.

(es) wrote: More Corman wackiness, this time starring the Beastmaster himself, Marc Singer.Basically another Alien rip-off, it's still an enjoyable watch for the forgiving among you who don't mind a nice bit of cheese.Rental?

(nl) wrote: When the funniest thing about your comedy is your main character's name, you have a problem. Still, I cracked up each time they said Stroker Ace... because they said it over and over and over.I'm also a sucker for comedic sound effects paired with character's over-reactions. BOING!

(gb) wrote: Orson Welles and Dean Stockwell are amazing in this movie. The acting by these two are the main reason to see it, especially Orson Welles' moving arguments in court.Recommended.
(br) wrote: Pros:Gripping story, even if sci fi isn't your cup of teaJoseph Gordon-Levitt and Emily Blunt's performances are outstanding, as is the central child actorCons:Extreme violence, and the violence against children was particularly disturbing to me. It is central to the plot and not gratuitous but still incredibly difficult to watch. I wouldn't rewatch the film for that alone. It's a shame those characters could not have been older--it would still work for the plot without such incredibly disturbing violence.
