(ag) wrote: The story is a bit slow and not great. Some part just not really necessary and the movie isn't scary or connected somehow.
(us) wrote: I liked the premise.....What else can i say?
(br) wrote: I don't think anyone other than Celine Dion fans are going to be watching this, so in that case, it's a great film with excellent personal looks inside the tour fans were waiting for. It's cute.

(kr) wrote: Full of Raimi's oddball humor and a dark comic tone, the movie is certainly never boring with an exceptional different performance from Liam Neeson.

(de) wrote: Its 1997 and it sucks even more than it really did in '97 (so bad, in fact, that the apprently stopped manufacturing cars sometime in the mid 80s!). A cyborg attempts to kill a powerful scientist and then hides at a roadhouse bar in Arizona. He gets involved in the local arm wrestling scene. He is being pursued by his manufacturers who are pissed he didnt complete his job as well as the FBI. The memory of his previous life starts to come back as he tries to figure out why he is now an assassin. There is an arm repair scene similar to that in Terminator. Overall too damn cheesy (but thats too be expected from an 80s Italian action flick) By the outline I gave you'd think there was something more comedic here. There wasn't.
(us) wrote: This movie was absolutely amazing. Its a definite romantic comedy with adam sandlers funny jokes. I loved this movie it has a beautiful plot to it and amazing acting. Overall probably one of my top favorite movies ever. If the movie can make you laugh, cry, and think then it's already amazing.

This is an excellent way to enter into the World of Chaplin and will inspire you to watch, or re-watch his best films as there are several clips featured here. Give it a try! - I enjoyed this one a lot as Chaplin has such a fascinating story and it's a really good performance from Robert Downey Jr.. Check it out!
(es) wrote: Peter Bogdanovich re-teams with Ryan O'Neal (who he last worked with on "What's Up Doc?" and casts O'Neal's young daughter Tatum as his co-star. Set during the depression and shot in black in white, the movie is about a con artist who agrees to escort a young girl who's mother passed away (and may or may not be his own daughter) to live with her aunt, but they end up traveling together and committing several cons along the way. It's a wonderful movie, it's funny, the O'Neals a great onscreen duo, and the direction and cinematography are great. Lots of fun, as well as some warmth and heart...classic filmmaking, highly recommended.
(de) wrote: Another genre-less film full of platitudes and meaninglessness.'Ashby' is yet another film lacking any sort of direction, structure, and storytelling from a decade full of films like these. Is it a character film? Perhaps a teen drama, or redemption story? Maybe a terrible mesh of all three perhaps? Tony McNamara brings a lot of different ideas into a script that is devoid of anything important to say at all.Mickey Rourke portrays the titular character Ashby, a former CIA assassin who has killed for his government because quote; "That was my job... sigh..." I suppose as a younger man he must have been a patriot and a soldier, but all that has changed over time, when he has his first heart attack and finds out he has very little time to live. His neighbor (Nat Wolff), a rather bland teenager who just moved into town with his single mom (an equally bland Sara Silverman), asks Ashby if he can write an essay about him... because quote; "You're old." And so the film unfolds at a slow and steady pace with nothing really to offer the viewer and focuses solely on a teenager who literally has nothing to complain about, yet still finds the time and energy to do so.What really upset me about this movie's direction and writing, isn't the awful story line itself, but the real lack of any message for the viewer. Outside of Micky Rouke's character coming to terms with who he was and the horrible things he'd done during his career, every single character in this movie is exactly the same at the end, as when it started out. The idea of an assassin seeking redemption through a kid writing a high school essay is laughable at the least, but putting up with the most annoying teenager in the world, makes me literally weep for future generations of screenwriters and directors. It's predictable at most times, ablaze with platitudes, and lacks anything worth watching for an hour and forty five minutes. This movie has absolutely nothing to teach anyone except that murder can be part of a geek coming to age film. He also becomes an accessory to murder, but hey... that's fine if your friends right?I wish I could get my time back.1/5
