The baroque helmer's take on the enigmatic painting "The Night Watch" is designed to look like a Rembrandt canvas, right down to the careful composition of the players within the frame. Thus, in look and tone, "Nightwatching" reps a return to the Peter Greenaway style of old, though whether it's a return to form is another matter. One might suggest that what resulted was equivalent to making a biopic about Michelangelo and casting Benny Hill in the lead role.

One big reason the movie is so good is only by one performance by Harold Lloyd is damn genius, he carries the film so well woth his charm and facial expressions that the movie wouldn't be good at all without him. The movie is nicely paced and the football sequence was excellently well crafted amd gets the most laughs from that. Also this movie started the many things we see in these kinds of movies today, such as bullies, the quiet girl that falls for lead, and suspense as well for sport movies, just a lot of cliches all started here but you can't blame it because its almost 90 years old. The movie has an amazing ending and really touching with so much charisma that its hard not to leave with a smile on your face. I do feel that some of the humor is outdated and parts in here which slow down but as much for complaints nothing much really. As the movie averages out its a comedy classic that people should see if your a big movie buff, just overall fantastic movie. 9.5/10

A propaganda film no doubt and it shows, but a good action flick that gets it all down pretty well. The beginning feels long and drawn out, shows us some characters but we can't really tell them apart of remember them as the movie goes on. We are stuck in a submarine for a bit, then the fight for Makin takes place, which takes up about 45 minutes of the movie. Te action is really good for its time, far better than other stuff they had, with good sound effects, explosions, and camera angles. The showing the actual guns firing with the exception of the Japanese machine guns seems to have been a problem, as we can't really tell if they are shooting if we didn't have the good sounds effects. Of course it is the classic American hero style, which is exactly what is expected of it given the time and all, so don't expect different. They kill all the Japanese with little problem, have some good shootouts, and after the action starts it doesn't let off until the film is over. I don't really know anything about the raid on Makin so I don't know how historically accurate it is, but I can be pretty positive that they didn't paint an American flag on the headquarters roof to make the Japanese planes bomb their own troops after they retook it. Also it was funny to see the Japanese pilots flying out their American F4F Wildcats and TBM Avengers which although were standing in for Japanese aircraft had full US navy markings. Overall good classic war movie, exactly what is to be expected in terms of story and plot, but better in action and characters.

The storyline for this picture is just okay, a bit clich, but written better than you may expect. There were some funny lines, interactions, and scenes. The acting was above average for the genre and includes Craig Robinson, Kerry Washington, David Alan Greer, Tyler James Williams, and Kali Hawk."Any type of freak is a good one."I came across this on Netflix and had never heard of it so I decided to give it a shot. This was fairly mediocre, in a lot of ways, with some scenes that made it worth a viewing.
