Charley G (de) wrote: Spike Lee's latest is his most challenging and unsettling work to date. The small amount of marketing support behind this film presented it as a cross between Crooklyn and Robert Duvall's The Apostle. They got it right, but it's not a 50/50 split. Yes it is yet another chapter in Spike Lee's Brooklyn saga, but Red Hook Summer's main storyline, withdrawn teen's coming of age in the summertime, serves as a Trojan horse for the film's central message which dares to question the effectiveness of organized religion. However, this subject should not be too much of a shock for Spike's base. Remember Jungle Fever? The sins of two morally comprised grown sons are ultimately blamed on their strict Baptist preacher father who blamed everything on the devil...even crack. Both films are classics...then and now.

Petros T (gb) wrote: Woody Allen magnificently combines magical landscapes, wonderful music and satisfying performances in a pleasant film. The script is decent without much to say but the direction and scenery got my attention from the beginning, along with Rebecca Hall. The supporting cast is also good, with the excellent Patricia Clarkson at the helm. Josep Maria Domenech was also very good. Undoubtedly "Vicky, Christina, Barcelona" is an entertaining study on human relationships.

I thought the setting was great, the practical wolf effects looked amazing, and that dog 'Thor' is seriously one of the best animal actors I've ever seen. The opening is fantastic too! 5/5

Dustin F (jp) wrote: Underrated, paranoid thriller! Tony Scott was always one of my favorites (True Romance, Man on Fire, Crimson Tide, etc) and this is one of his most fun films. It's a little dated now but strong performances by Will Smith and the great Gene Hackman make this a popcorn movie wortyh revisiting!

Giacco C (fr) wrote: Science, philosophy and religion are all explored deeply in this very sophisticated film. It's a little movie, but contains greater meaning and leaves more of an impact than 99% of most billion-dollar blockbusters.
