Jordan F (es) wrote: A fairly pedestrian film, which as authentic and beautifully photographed as it may be is not meant for anything except maybe daytime TV. The story of One Kine Day follows Ralsto, played by first time actor Ryan Greer, as a teen skateboarder who works at a skate shop and pretty much only knows skating. The film ignites with Ralsto finding out that his girlfriend Alea is pregnant. This being the second time she has gotten pregnant and possibly the second time she will have to go through an abortion. However Alea is having second thoughts about the abortion and with her best friend having a neglected daughter of her own pushing Alea to keep the baby this creates a rift between Alea and Ralsto. Ralsto being fired the same day of the news must come up with a way to make some quick cash so that he can afford to pay for the abortion. This leads him into illegal gambling and drug dealers thus bringing some drama to the film. The film has a very Hawaiian laid back tone with that very island feeling of isolation. There's a variety of characters on the island all with different quarks and philosophies. Ralsto is a lost soul trying to do the right thing put under the pressure of jockeying adults telling him how he should live the rest of his life. Ultimately this is a story of maturity but Ralsto's final decision at the end of the film hardly seems like a decision but more of a yielding to parental powers and circumstances. This is a first film from a first time narrative director with a very non polished cast and it shows in almost every scene. The cinematography and soundtrack really have something going for it but other than that your not gonna find the type of refinement you'd want from a 1st class independent film. One Kine Day is a noble attempt at telling a truthful Hawaiian story but is without the tools or foundation necessary to succeed.

WS W (au) wrote: It gets its potential to be more than a qualified suspense piece, but then, all being ruined by the pretentious narrative.

Catherine L (gb) wrote: A moving train, stations and stories and events one may witness in such circumstances. The train moves and our thoughts travel as well, or we simply remain as observers, or sometimes we have to take a stand... three very real stories by some top realistic directors. To watch.

Jonathan P (au) wrote: It is this type of chick flick that turn off guys to the entire genre. Not funny, stupid plot, Murphy's character was annoying and paranoid (and we are supposed to find that cute and charming?) and the entire movie was just boring.

Leonard D (gb) wrote: Even though Walt Disney himself claims that he didn't like the art style of this film, I kind of beg to differ. The quality of this art style is what makes it timeless, along with some great memorable characters! A wonderful tale about dogs finding their way back home!

victor l (br) wrote: Awful action movie with a few laughs, whose biggest highlight was casting the sensational Jack Palance in a role he did a thousand times across his career. Chevy Chase is unfunny here (a terrible actor) and Dianne Wiest's talent is wasted. Some jokes worked, some others were insuferable. The villains were absolute morons.

Coxxie M (nl) wrote: Gus van sant is probably the only director i know of who can make a film thats boring and interesting at the same time, in more than one case too... oh, yea and im most likely one out of like 5 people to give this more than a star!

Thrall T (de) wrote: The movie Say Anything is starring John Cusack, Ione Skye, and John Mahoney. The main character, Diane Court, is a pretty and popular valedictorian at her high school who has been offered a fellowship to study abroad in England. Lloyd Dobler is an underachiever and a boxer. The two meet at their high school graduation, where Lloyd professes his liking for Diane, but he soon figures out that she is way out of his league. Lloyd will not give up though, and it convinced that he will be with Diane as much as he can before she leaves for college. One strength of this movie is it's soundtrack. The classic boombox scene would not have been as memorable as it was without the Peter Gabriel song, "In Your Eyes". A few others are the attractive and stylish actors, the 80s fashion, and the cliche and cute moments shared between the two characters. Also, you can't get a better coming-of-age movie than this. It is very realistic and true-to-life, as well as highlighting the funny moments. While it is my favorite movie, one weakness is that I cannot recommend it to younger viewers. It is not very suitable for children because it includes sex, underage drinking, and explicit language. So parents, be sure to watch this when the kids aren't at home. I give this movie 5 out of 5 stars, so if you are looking to watch a realistic teen romance movie, Say Anything is the one to see!

Josh Duhamel and Julianne Hough are absolutely stunning, I don't know if I have the courage like Josh did but I do know that Safe Haven is for us to find a new love and a new start because it's about making that individual happy.
