(ag) wrote: Oh my god, this movie so awful. Words can't not describe how atrocious it is. Billy Zane is laughable in this cheap, horrible, not even FUNNY movie about a tax agent who comes to a town that hasn't paid taxes in fifty years. Please avoid at all cost. Please.

(nl) wrote: An over-the-top but completely entertaining action romp through the jungle that never takes itself seriously and is a straight-up blast! The chemistry between The Rock and Seann William Scott is hilarious and the movie plays much like Midnight Run in the jungle. The action scenes are outstanding even though they push credibility as often as possible, most notably a fight between The Rock and the Rebels that completely dismisses physics and gravity; but it's all in good fun. There is also an incredibly gnarly fall down a hill that looks completely real and I really felt for the stuntmen who had to participate. It's a brainless good time with a super-cool action hero and a gorgeous setting!

(ag) wrote: It's a little dated obviously, being made before man had been to the moon, it's portrayal of space flight is antiquated even. BUT it does a very good job of portraying classic horror, most of the actual action takes place of screen, leaving you with the responses on the faces of the actors and with something to do for your own imagination. Also I think Brian Donlevy does a pretty decent job of portraying Quartermass as an absolutely consummate scientist, with mind for little else, certainly not 'the little people'.Wordsworth gives a very good performance as 'the monster' (without actually ever speaking). Margia Dean is less then stellar in this movie though. Overall if you like classic horror flicks, you'll enjoy this for sure.
(au) wrote: A feel good tale of how to make it on broadway. A great cast with garland, turner, lamarr, stewart and many others show the lavishness of ziegfelds productions that seems tedious at times, but still has it moments. Crazy costumes and good music also support. Garland was great in the song "Mini from Trinidad".
