The Legend of Wisely

Wisely, the famous writer/adventurer, is tricked by his friend (played by Teddy Robin Kwan, the film's director)into helping him steal the dragon pearl. Sam Hui plays Wisely in this big budget HK movie, with production units filming some scenes by the Great Pyramids, and many scenes in Nepal. There are car chases and crashes, chases by horsemen and plenty of fights along the way. The Legend of Wisely is a live action comic book. A lot of effort went into making this movie, and it shows as Wisely goes from one hazard to another, a HK version of Indiana Jones.

Richard P (mx) wrote: Despite the title, it is actually a serious zombie movie and quite well done. Good characterisation too. Hard to believe that Abe can be a hard ass zombie killer, but yet you can actually buy it in this movie.

Albert P (de) wrote: if you're expecting to see a movie that in anyway romanticizes the cowboy-- sheepboy in this context :)-- you would be looking in the wrong place. This movie does the opposite showing us *very* stressed out and uncharming cowboys that at points hated the animals they were herding. there is very little of the spiritual aspects you'd want from a movie about a long trip into the mountains, and all about a dirty job that has to get done that these guys don't really want to it's a tough subject to handle and props to the filmmaker for trying, but not even they could make interesting what was obviously not interesting for the subjects of the movie. the movie was based on the premise that this was the last ride into the mountains before the public lands were closed for grazing, but in the end you think, so what? no one wanted to go up there anyway.

Andrew B (jp) wrote: It's not horrible its just not that good.

Joe H (it) wrote: It is a strongly emotional biopic capturing the rise and fall of "It Girl" Edie Sedgwick. Dedicated and tragic performances from Sienna Miller and Guy Pearce make this film definitely one to watch.

Justin B (mx) wrote: Two real, well acted characters at the core of a paint-by-numbers melodrama. You could argue it simplifies the struggles of substance abuse but that's really not what the film is about. It's flawed; but quite touching and beautiful with a really great score and palpable chemistry.

Nived N (ag) wrote: Dushman is a violent & disturbing thriller ever made. Ms Tanuja Chandra made a sensational film which is still remembered for it's thrilling plot and brilliant performance. KAJOL plays identical twins Naina and Sonia, both are polarly different but still love each other. One day Sonia is brutally raped and murdered by ferocious serial killer Gopal (ASHUTOSH RANA) leading to family's devastation. So in order to take revenge and give justice to her deceased sister, Naina takes up martial arts to overcome her fear and to take on Gopal. Dushman is a faithful remake of Sally Field starrer ''An Eye for an Eye'', the only difference is that in English, daughter becomes the victim while in Hindi it is the identical twin sister. Also, Dushman is made in bollywood style . But still Dushman is a food which is very hard to digest due to it's brutal and shocking scenes including Sonia's rape scene which creates lump in your throat, however the film has the best strength of unpredictability, although you know Kajol will end up taking revenge but they way she chooses to do so is interesting and creates thrill. The movie is smartly written and kuddos to TANUJA CHANDRAN for handling such scary subject with such dexterity. The Music is hummable and is used in needed sequence. However, it is the performance which makes the film an engaging watch. KAJOL is breathe of fresh air, she slips effortlessly in the role of both distinct personality of sister.SANJAY DUTT & JAS ARORA does a decent job but one thing I have to say JAS ARORA has a undeniable screen presence. As a result, it is ASHUTOSH RANA, who is the show-stealer as the dangerous serial-killer GOPAL, His performance will go down as the best in many years. His eye's is enough to create fear in our mind and when he performs, he is just simply outstanding!

Roger R (it) wrote: One of the more irritating things people say about books adapted to film is that the book was better. No the book was different, they are different art forms and a film can almost never be faithful to every reader's previsualisation of the novel. However, with Grahame Greene novels, which are so visually and cinematically written, it is possible for film adaptations which are faithful to the themes, meanings and subtext of the literary work. Of course it helps if Graham Greene also co writes the script. A great indeed touching film about how our personal dysfunctions can lead us to choose strange bedfellows

Walt C (nl) wrote: I just saw this movie, despite the bad ratings it received. I was pleasantly surprised and really enjoyed it. I think it was made a couple of years to soon (2009). I feel that it is much more relate-able to the present day (2014). See it if you haven't already.
