Veronica W (au) wrote: I had a hard time concentrating on this movie. Different story lines were happening all over the place all at the same time. None of the characters were memorable or likable. It had such potential since the original movie was so great. This movie was a bit boring, but it was nice to see some of the old characters come back again! But really.. I would not watch this again.

Melanie S (br) wrote: Rarely have I had the opportunity to be so offended and insulted as a viewer in 5 minutes or less than I was on watching this film. Before the credits even have a chance to roll, I'm watching a grown man help a pubescent girl shave her vulva. This man's wife finds out, and it is made clear that her reaction is an 'over-reaction' (because father figures should TOTALLY be allowed near the vaginas of blossoming women) and this too-white (blonde, blue-eyed) mother figure is immediately painted an evil witch for wanting to get an impressionable girl away from a perverted spouse by (GASP!) sending the girl to live with her biological (read: Lebanese) father. This 'father' embodies every Middle Eastern stereotype at first glance, then cements it by slapping his daughter for having the audacity to wear a (non-revealing) V-neck shirt. I am not the least bit ashamed to say I stopped the film right there (running time 5:07) and popped it right back in its Netflix sleeve. I understand that some films are tongue-in-cheek, but there is a fine line. A line which this film doesn't even acknowledge, much less bothers to tow.Considering Hollywood loves to pronounce itself the Mecca of social, humanitarian, religious and cultural tolerance, I'm surprised every single copy of this film hasn't been burned in effigy. Then again, considering Hollywood is full of its own bullshit, maybe I'm not that surprised after all.

Walter M (it) wrote: "Marooned in Iraq" takes place in the Kurd dominated regions of Iran and Iraq, towards the end of the Iran/Iraq war. An older musician named Mirza goes in search of his ex(?)-wife, along with his two sons - one unmarried, one married seven times over, with eleven daughters and desperately wants another wife to finally give him a son.(The latter son is in desperate need of feminist teachings. Considering that women cannot sing out in public, perhaps the whole region is, also.) What happens is a journey funny, dangerous and touching - as the trio wanders on the edge of a war zone and witness the destruction that Saddam Hussein has wrought first hand. They also meet up with characters who try and profit from the war plus those whose lives the war has changed for the worst.

Vicky T (gb) wrote: If you want to see a half way decent comedy (if you haven't seen it before) may I suggest Men with Brooms. It came out in 2002 and is one of the last movies of Canadian Leslie Nelsen, who by the way is very funny and best of all the music is by the Tragically Hip, who even have a scene or two...The story is about Curling, which is a Scottish equilivant of shuffle board, except its played on ice and they use 42lb granite rocks. Enjoy!

Paul E (br) wrote: This was heralded as a return to form for Argento. It's not. In fact, I think I prefer Trauma to this one. Very plodding and slow. Has an exploding head at the end, though, which is good. Otherwise - pants.

Michael G (mx) wrote: I bought this movie for cheap at a second-hand store. Being a big Sci-Fi guy, I've watched almost every movie there is of the genre but I had never heard of this one, which surprised me. But seeing the words "Soderbergh", "Cameron", and "Clooney" on the cover, my expectations were raised considerably. What I got was a plodding, incoherent, far too deliberate mess.I love George Clooney - he's a great actor, especially in "Ocean's", "The Descendants", and "The Monuments Men". However, he seems bored in this flick - he seems like he's in it as a favour for old pal Soderbergh.I also like Natascha McElhone, very very much - The Truman Show showcased this greatly. But she's so off-course here, playing someone who feels artificial - well, ok, I guess that's the point - and bored at the same time. This movie features way too much bad dialogue, awful CGI, Clooney's buttocks, and weird emphasis in sentenes. The set design is good, but the odd interfaces on the ship's displays and the constant flashbacks make this movie a derivative mess - a living nightmare.

Richard D (au) wrote: I get the feeling that this movie has the reputation for being awful simply because Duke Mitchell and Sammy Petrillo are doing Martin & Lewis in it. Well ... they do a pretty passable job at it, so I don't see why that counts so strongly against the movie. It's a pretty average low budget comedy from this era that has a few extra things going for it ... Bela Lugosi, and really Mitchell and Pertrillo. I like it, if not a whole lot.

Andrew D (es) wrote: Ok this movie is not good, but i can see why is was so popular at the time. However the script is really sleazy and Micheal Douglas character treats women quite horribly and i'm pretty sure i witnessed a rape. He's also gives a really bad performance, but besides what a hot mess the movie and he was i think Sharon Stone is actually quite good in it. She gives this confident and cool performance and no one can recited a terrible line like Ms. Stone (watch CAT-WOMAN know). The score is also quite good and the cinematography is great, the movie is nice to look at. Overall i had fun watching it but its quite a bad movie.

Richard B (de) wrote: Andew Niccol at one point was one of the my favorite writer/directors, but has quickly fallen from grace, but I was still interested in seeing his newest film, 'Good Kill'. Ethan Hawke reteams with Niccol (Gattaca and Lord of War) and he is good here in this character study. The film deals with some interesting topics and the droid issue was handled very well in my opinion. The film is kind of predictable and even though the droid aspect is new, many other aspects have been done before. Overall, I liked this film, but didn't think it was anything that amazing.

Wes T (ag) wrote: Fans of the films should prepare to be disappointed as Leprechaun: Origins is just another bland monster in the woods movie.
