Caesar M (au) wrote: When done correctly, Takashi Miike can give a truly enjoyable movie experience like 13 Assassins. Unfortunately this isn't one of those movies and is a mess of a movie. Like A Dragon is about a former Yakuza underling Kiryu Kazuma, who has recently been released from prison, who's trying to find Haruka mother. The story of Like A Dragon is very poorly done despite the great material from the video game they could have worked on. It has to many characters that serve no purpose for the story and most of it story-lines go nowhere. Occasionally we do get some stupid dialogue and there are some pointless scenes in the movie itself. That's not the only problem as it has a weak build up to a boring climax. Clearly these people missed many opportunities to tell a thrilling stories, to bad they went in this direction. Now since this movie material is from the great video game franchise Yakuza, I'm surprised the violence is weak. There's not one enjoyable action scene in this movie. The special effects work against the movie as it makes it look very cartoonish. What's worse than that is the actors are really bad. Not one of them give an convincing performance and even some of the more emotional scenes are delivered heartlessly by it cast. What it does right is the attention to detailed they put to make it look exactly like the game and they do a pretty good job. Like A Dragon will definitely will disappoint fans of the series and it won't gain any new ones because of this movie. It's a missed opportunity to make a great movie from a great series, and that's what's most disappointing about this movie for any fan.

Daniel S (gb) wrote: continuing with my guilty pleasure of trashy 80s movies, this one is pretty good, they do a good job with the classic 80s characters, and its a good set up, i will say some things werent explained the best, and despite only being 89 min, still dragged a bit at the end, with just a buncha running scenes, but its still a fun time overall

Joel A (kr) wrote: A fantastic thriller/drama centering around two people having an affair that do a hit & run & the consequences of the times ahead. This film was made with much flair & had a lot of style & in many ways was a Noir of it's own. The two actors who performed the hit run where sensational & the lead actress had as much beauty & charisma as an American studio actress. The story & the decline of these two was fascinating to watch, it was an involving story & I am sure the final sequences of the film will leave you spellbound. Not all European films are too difficult to watch, this was tense & engrossing film a great Spanish film that is worth a watch.

Dean M (jp) wrote: This is a very entertaining film. Some of the acting of Jim Hutton & Katharine Ross may have been less than one would expect. But the film should be seen keeping mind that this was years before the disaster films of the early seventies like The Poseidon Adventure & The Towering Inferno. It is a fun watch as Chance Buckman's (John Wayne) crew travels the world putting out oil well fires while kindling a few fires of their own in the local women. It is fun to watch many of the fire-fighting scenes today and wonder how they pulled this off thirty years ago. It is very Wayne as can be seen as some of his regulars turn up here, such as Bruce Cabot, Edward Faulkner who were part of his stable. This is the first time I ever saw Jim Hutton (father of actor Timothy Hutton) in this action-adventure film.
