Great opening 15 mins and good to get another perspective. This this does nothing to continue the Battlestar story and any casual viewer will be lost.

Dan G (jp) wrote: This short film by David Cronenberg is more an experiment in filmmaking by a young director than an exploration of the films narrative about a young man arriving at an academy for people with telepathic ability. The film is masterfully sculpted and the silence of the movie serves to draw our attention to the careful composition of each shot. The young Cronenberg makes use of some incredible tracking and panning shots which (similarly to Kubrick's A Clockwork Orange) lend themselves to the film's the eerie sic-fi narrative.Stereo is testimony to the ambition of a young director who's ability reveals itself in the beauty and bleakness of every shot in this film.

Feels more dated than some of the more popular musicals that have been able to stay relevant throughout the times, such as Singing in the Rain or Sound of Music. Still worth a watch for Brando and Sinatra, as well as some classic songs.
Michael S (es) wrote: Powell and Pressburger are fast becoming some of my favorite directors. There films just have this sense of being so ahead of there time it's impeccable. The movie is basically nunsploitation before that was a thing. It's weird, beautifully shot, balls out, and downright creepy at times.

However, some of the more abstract pieces are okay to look at but unbearably boring to watch. It's a hit-or-miss affair, but there are at least three or four great shorts in here, so it's definitely worth a watch.

Annoyingly indulgent action film, set in Mexico city: Bodyguard Washington is hired to protect a young girl from professional kidnappers, but when he fails, he swears violent revenge on all criminals associated to her supposed death. Absorbing first half, canceled out by grisly second. Washington is a great actor, but he's given little here (and making him an alcoholic isn't a terribly original idea either). Also, Scott's indulgence in the editing room (complete with fast cuts, grainy hand-held shots in the middle of scenes for no reason at all), though mostly confined to the second half, become deadening to watch. The opening credits are almost unwatchable.
