The Meaning of Life
Life's questions are 'answered' in a series of outrageous vignettes, beginning with a staid London insurance company which transforms before our eyes into a pirate ship. Then there's the National Health doctors who try to claim a healthy liver from a still-living donor. The world's most voracious glutton brings the art of vomiting to new heights before his spectacular demise.
Why are we here, what's it all about? The Monty Python-team is trying to sort out the most important question on Earth: what is the meaning of life? They do so by exploring the various stages of life, starting with birth. A doctor seems more interested in his equipment than in delivering the baby or caring for the mother, a Roman Catholic couple have quite a lot of children because 'every sperm is sacred'. In the growing and learning part of life, catholic schoolboys attend a rather strange church service and ditto sex education lesson. Onto war, where an officer's plan to attack is thwarted by his underlings wanting to celebrate his birthday and an officer's leg is bitten off by presumably an African tiger. At middle age a couple orders 'philosophy' at a restaurant, after which the film continues with live organ transplants. The autumn years are played in a restaurant, which, after being treated to the song 'Isn't It Awfully Nice to Have a Penis?' by an entertainer, sees the arrival ... . (ru) wrote: Rushed thin story that doesn't stop to breath, most of the jokes don't work, and many of the characters are a bit too annoying- yet it does tend to have a nice charm to the film and some deeper meanings. Overall it's for the kids, mostly noise, and mindless- but it maintains a fun cartoon feel.

The areas are populated by convincing human-like robots (or androids) that play different roles. Friends Peter (Richard Benjamin) and John (James Brolin) book a stay at Westworld. Unfortunately, it is during their stay where the robots wage a violent, bloody uprising. This film is essentially the precursor to Jurassic Park (I mean both films come from the mind of Michael Crichton and feature expensive theme parks where the attractions turn on the guests). Some of the special effects aren't great, but the story here is rich and fun. All the actors do great jobs, but I'd say the standouts were James Brolin (who looks a lot like Christian Bale for some reason) and Yul Brenner as a crazed robot from Westworld who has set his sights on Peter. The film is also surprisingly violent ( a lot of deaths). I highly enjoyed my trip to Westworld, and would gladly recommend it. It's also worth noting that Westworld has elements that inspired The Terminator and Michael Meyers from Halloween.
