David M (fr) wrote: Been a long time since i seen a horror movie this bad. Story was cliche, killings were terrible, characters were annoying, etc etc. and just when you think it can't possibly get any worse it does. The idea they used could have worked under different circumstances and it sounded like it was enough to make this watchable but it really wasn't. Stay away.

Jennifer S (fr) wrote: An unexpectedly funny new wave Czech film about a young girl who works in a factory and falls in love with a pianist she spends the night with. Like other New Wave films, Loves of a Blonde speeds up events that you would think would take longer to show on screen, and slows down events which could easily have been reduced to a minute on screen. For example, there are scenes of conversation that go on for 20 minutes, followed by a scene where a character makes a big decision that occur in the blink of an eye. This way of storytelling makes the mundane important and the important mundane in a very interesting way. Loves of a Blonde is also funny, and that surprised me. There's a scene where 3 older gentlemen decide to send a bottle of wine to a table of 3 very young, attractive girls, but the waiter accidentally brings the bottle to a table of 3 older, plain women. The men then, unbelievably, instruct the waiter to take the bottle back from the older women and give it to the younger women. The scene is delightfully awkward. The only complaint I have is that the main character, young and inexperienced Andula, is so passive and blank, that it was hard to care at all about her plot line. The young man she sleeps with (who looks like Michael Cera--if Michael Cera was a Czech actor from the 1960's) spends half the film attempting to convince her to come up to his room and take her coat off. She demures, he insists, she demures, he insists. Geez, make a fucking decision already! But this isn't a film about an empowered young woman who makes some kind of statement about having a one night stand...it's just a glimpse into the life of the titular Blonde.

Indie L (ca) wrote: The thing about Michael Bay is, you either love him, or you hate him. People who love him love action, stupid dialogs, and bad acting. People who love him have lower than average intelligence. Pearl Harbor is possibly the least hated Michael Bay movie out there. At least the CGI is better than Transformers, and the planes scenes are great. Other than that, it's a typical Michael Bay movie. Unlike his other movies, it's somewhat bearable to watch.
