The formula, in case you are new to this 3rd planet in our solar system, is to show the person/band now, and then rewind back to childhood and then to the glory days that make us want to find out about the person/band in the first place. One of the failings in this film is that it shows the childhood pics by having Ozzie flip through them all and comment - a questionable tactic as his train of thought is still a bit scattered after 40 years of substance abuse. There are no real insights here - those come later, and mostly from his 2nd wife Sharon, who reveals that Oz has always had deep seated insecurities. Where the film shines is in showing that very bright light that was early Black Sabbath - as the many testimonials attest, Sabbath pretty much invented heavy metal - and musical luminaries such as Sir Paul noted that they were original, and looking back, quite talented and excellent song writers. The film then slogs through the post Sabbath, Randy Rhodes years as Oz self destructs - it is to the film's credit (or perhaps simply watching the act of redemption) that the slow catharsis and healing of OZ has some poignancy. At the end, when he speaks of finally accepting and coming to terms with himself, it rings true and resonates (something as simple as when, at age 60, he finally gets a drivers license - something most would take for granted - but here it signifies a return to the real world - and Ozzie has come full circle to embody that 3rd Sabbath album title "Masters of Reality").

Refreshing dialogue & a realism that stands it apart from other movies out there today... Mark Duplass' star is definitely on the rise & will soon shine bright for all the world to see.. I do hope that he returns now and then to these indie, low budget films that have so much more to give the world than your regular box office fodder. The film does end, like 'Y.S.S' at a point which leaves the audience wanting more & with unresolved plot strands... This can be seen as a downside - but upon reflection... Like life... nothing ever concludes properly, not all loose ends are tied up...Life is never in full order!!!

Amber K (jp) wrote: This was not an awful film. Personally I didn't like it because the pace was very slow and the story wasn't as strong as it could have been. The acting in this film felt simple but it was rather decent considering the entire film consists of 4 people. Nicholas D'Agosto was good. Even though the film wasn't that good I watched it until the end. The ending really brings the story together. The film is psychological but not thrilling. This film to me is like "Meet the Crazy family and watch them very slowly imprison a teen". I really can't recommend this film to anyone.

Undercover Brother teams up with The Chief, Sistah Girl, Conspiracy Brother and Smart Brother to take on The Man and Mr Feather. However, things don't go to plan and White She Devil is sent in to destroy Undercover Brother.A silly but funny movie that throws most of the well known stereotypes at our characters. Even so, I found it more enjoyable than Johnny English or Deuce Bigalow.

There's almost no denying that. But, for me (meaning "in my own hopelessly subjective opinion") there is such a thing as having too many brilliant ideas in a single film. And, after watching "Synecdoche, New York," I realize that that's exactly what I got; a film with too many brilliant ideas for my tastes. Indeed, some of these ideas speak to me forcefully and with great fluidity, but many of the others simply make no sense to me at all. As far as "thinking man movies" go, this one may have me feeling the most conflicted. But, as of right now, my score still stands as it is. Either way, this one's a must-see.
