Dave J (gb) wrote: Monday, July 14, 2014 (2013) Welcome To The Punch ACTION THRILLER/ MYSTERY Don't watch this movie for the action sequences because they're either shown better on much more superior action films, and aside from the end, much of the action is very bland. If there's any reason I'm giving this movie 70%, it is solely because of the evolving "complication" regarding the plot, as well as using the unlikely duos working together method between cop and thief who has ethical standards. Few of my favorite unlikely "duo" action movies also include "(1989) The Killer", "(2001) The Fast And The Furious", and "LA Confidential". "Welcome to the Punch" as the movie is called is the name of a place viewers are going to understand as the movie is progressing. It opens with a chase between cop, Max(James McAvoy) chasing some men riding on motorcycles while carrying something on their backs. Max then disobeys an order and attempts to cut one of them off (the last motorcycle guy) by knocking him down to the ground with a pole of sort in which he grabbed while going after them on foot, since the area consists of areas his car is unable to go through. Because the guy he knocked down wasn't completely knocked out, a fight ensures between thief, Jacob Sternwood (Mark Strong) and Max. Jacob manages to grab a gun, and instead of shooting him dead, he shoots him in the leg instead, before being driven away by his accomplice of another bike. With time going by, Max still haven't recovered fully by the shot yet and for some reason he's still working on the case. While the police are still after Jacob and his cronies, and under unpredictable circumstances, Jacob then finds out that his son was un-intentionally shot. Leading to something bigger than both Max and Jacob had first realized including double crossings and corruption. The best way to describe this film is that it's boring and routine on the first half, but gets even better on the second. Actor Mark Strong almost steals the entire movie from James McAvoy. 3 out of 4 stars

Amanda H (ca) wrote: This movie started out really well, but then fell apart by the end. What was a good, strong, interesting storyline at the beginning turned into a mess of nonsense about half an hour before the end. Overall though, this was better than I expected it to be.

Olli H (it) wrote: Weird piece of sci-fi, that for some reason turn into a family friendly tale as the movie goes go. It really takes it's time to move on too, becoming slightly boring & tedious to watch.

THE FOURTH PRODIGAL PLANET WAS NOT ON HERE I'D GIVE IT 1 STAR IT'S WORSE THAN THE FIRST REALLY BAD ACTING IN THESE MOVIES MAKE THEM HARD TO WATCH. THE REASON I CALL THESE MOVIE HORROR FILMS IF U WATCH THE BEGINNING OF THIS MOVIE IT SEEMS LIKE PATTY IS TRYING TO BE A SCREAM QUEEN. AND ANY1 WHO HAS WATCHED HORROR MOVIES FROM THE 70'S AND 80'S WILL KNOW WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT. HER SCREAMING NO, NO, NO REMINDED ME OF MARLYN BURNS IN TX CHAINSAW MASSACARE. THESE MOVIES HAD TO SEEM DATED EVEN IN THE 70'S AND 80'S CAUSE THEY SPAN A TIME FRAME FROM '72-'83 WHEN THE PRODIGAL PLANET CAME OUT. IF U WANNA WATCH MOVIES WITH THIS THEME I SUGGEST THE LEFT BEHIND SERIES THERE'S AT LEAST EST. ACTORS IN THOSE FILMS AND BIGGER BUDGET. I'VE NEVER SEEN THE ACTORS FROM THESE MOVIES N ANYTHING OTHER THAN THESE FILMS.

Tracey c (mx) wrote: In the various tellings of the tale of the OK Corral, the name John Clum comes up as a peripheral character. At that point in his life he was Mayor of Tombstone, Arizona and founder and editor of the Tombstone Epitaph which was in editorial support of the Earp brothers. But before that John Clum was an Indian agent, sent to the San Carlos Reservation in Arizona to reform the corrupt practices regarding same. Audie Murphy plays an eager and honest Clum in this film. The poor Indians were caught between a rock and a hard place. Either it was the army who was going to govern them or as was argued the civilian Interior Department. Clum has some interesting and novel ideas about giving the Apaches a large measure of self government. But the real story of Clum is hardly touched on. He stands out simply because he was honest. Sad to say Indian agents for the most part were hack politicians from the political machines back east. Whether they were hired by the War Department or the Interior Department, a lot of them robbed the poor Indians blind. Right at this time, one of the most notorious scandals of the Grant Administration was the Whiskey Ring which involved various trading posts and reached right up to the Secretary of War, a gentleman named William Belknap who resigned before he was impeached. Murphy gets able support from two leading ladies, pretty and perky Pat Crowley who plays his eastern fianc and Anne Bancroft who is the spectacularly beautiful Indian widow who's crushing out on him. Jay Silverheels who played Geronimo in Broken Arrow, plays him again in Walk the Proud Land. Charles Drake plays the former army sergeant who hires on as a blacksmith at the San Carlos Reservation and becomes Murphy's best pal and confidante. Walk the Proud Land is one of the few western films to have a choreographer in the person of Tommy Rall. Rall, a well known Broadway dancer, plays a young Indian warrior who becomes Murphy's friend. There is a lengthy sequence involving the Apaches entertaining some white VIPs at Murphy's wedding to Crowley with some tribal dances. A nice mix between the real deal and what you might see in Rose Marie's Totem Tom Tom number. Walk the Proud Land is definitely one of Audie Murphy's better westerns for Universal and a nice tribute to a real western figure.

It takes a rare breed to survive the winters and this honors them well. Would have rated 5 but didn't want to risk my personal admiration for folks there to color the rating. I rarely buy DVDs but this is a must.

Pontus J (jp) wrote: My personal favorite of the Bond franchise. It had some of the best chase scenes in the entire franchise with its tank scene some great espaces by brosnan such as the one in the begining when he catches a plane midfall only to save it to the sound of the James Bond tune. Pierce Brosnan puts in an amazing performance as 007, (my favorite bond actors best performance) Sean Bean puts in a great performance as 006, Famke as Onatopp and Izabelle as Natalya i overall like the pacing of the movie and i love the plot it is one of the best. I really recommend you watch this movie and hopefully enjoy it.
