Jasmine P (ru) wrote: A smart take on spoofing the action genre.

Justin R (kr) wrote: Spalding Gray crafts a nice follow-up to SWIMMING TO CAMBODIA, and Nick Broomfield does a nice job serving the material by basically doing what Jonathan Demme did the first time.

Gary R (ag) wrote: I don't know how stupid can you be to come up with this, but this movie gave a perfectly example of how awful it can be.

Andrey B (br) wrote: Intelligent and deep last film of John Huston, sad and melancholic, but profoundly life-affirming nevertheless.

Kevin S (gb) wrote: This hilarious comedy is about two bumbling government workers who failed their last round of test and expected to get fired but instead they get selected from a CIA recruitment program to be spies and are rushed into training and after that are dropped in Afghanistan and are decoys to draw out soviet defenses while two real spies are to hijack a soviet missile launcher. This is a very funny comedy starring two of the greatest and funniest actors Dan Akroyd and Chevy Chase. Be prepared to laugh and laugh hard as these two run into one mishap after another. Spies Like Us is a very funny and entertaining comedy that delivers on all levels of entertainment.

Aidan C (au) wrote: A terrible film with some creativity in it. I would not recommend it, though. It's not a so bad it's good film, it's just TERRIBLE.

Victor T (it) wrote: Michael Crichton is now remembered as a big author that had creative success on the page, TV ("ER") and film ("Jurassic Park"), but it is often forgotten that he also had a brief career as a director, starting with the Jurassic Park precursor "Westworld". Is this a solid sci-fi film and a solid directorial debut? Or is it a forgettable product of its time?DELOS is a highly technological amusement park design for rich people, as each day costs $1000. It consist of three worlds populated by androids, (or as I like to called them, Synths), that meticulously recreate an historical era: Westworld, RomanWorld and MedivalWorld. We follow Peter and John, a pair of friends who go to visit WestWorld, but in the middle of their vacation, things get out of control within DELOS. After deciding to watch the new HBO series, I also decided to give its source material a try, even though it looked campy, and what I got is quite peculiar. "Westworld" has passable acting (may I just say that Josh Brolin's dad looks like Christian Bale), hilariously dated effects, a score that sounds like the composer was selecting random notes and random instruments, it has one of worst editing jobs I've seen, the screenplay shows that it has written by a novelist (as it takes too much time in establishing the setting, thus the ending is rushed), Crichton's directing is as amateurish as you would expect for a first time director, and the concept is quite silly. But let's also give credit where credit is due as this film has some greatness within. While the effects are dated they are impressive for their time, many ideas are so good that most of them are now staples of the sci-fi genre, and there are many scenes that while they are not well executed in the technical level they are still so much fun to watch (specially the climax). "Westworld" is a film that despite having a silly premise, extremely amateurish direction and the fact that it is quite dated, manages to stand out thanks to its peculiar visuals, some interesting sci-fi ideas and a fun climax. Forgettable, silly, dated but quite entertaining.

Scott R (ag) wrote: A great suspense filled film. Rather unbelievable at first, but then it gets good.

Grant S (fr) wrote: I truly enjoyed everything about this movie from the intense action to the amazing soundtrack. I was truly entertained throughout. I could've done with a few less slow-mo shots but overall I think it was great. It's a great visual representation of Spartan culture and the battle of Thermopylae.

Bill C (gb) wrote: We started watching animal flicks for our new set of 2 large dogs, one of whom really gets into it. We were all upset during this one, and it was very difficult to watch in spots. Enjoyed the dogs, and great to know Paul Walker was a dog person, read up on him after watching the movie. Our dogs loved the film also, if you can count their barking and whining for the entire 2 hours. My spouse didn't stick around, she was too upset to watch anymore, so not a light movie.

Bruno C (gb) wrote: Atticus said to Jem one day, "I'd rather you shot at tin cans in the backyard, but I know you'll go after birds. Shoot all the blue jays you want, if you can hit 'em, but remember it's a sin to kill a mockingbird." That was the only time I ever heard Atticus say it was a sin to do something, and I asked Miss Maudie about it. "Your father's right," she said. "Mockingbirds don't do one thing except make music for us to enjoy. They don't eat up people's gardens, don't nest in corn cribs, they don't do one thing but sing their hearts out for us. That's why it's a sin to kill a mockingbird."
