(es) wrote: The Autopsy Of Jane Doe did most horror thrillers forget to do and that's stick to the basics. It doesn't go for flash, although the movie has a fantastic look as is. Hirsch and Cox's chemistry drives the story and I found myself heavily involved in trying to solve the mystery. Without any spoilers the ending could have been better, but overall definitely one of the best under the radar films to come out recently.

(it) wrote: The is a story about a teenage boy named Timothy (Tanner Cohen), who takes his role as the mischievious love-potion merchant Puck in A Midsummer Night's Dream and expands it to encompass the entire town. Timothy has no friends at school, and a strained relationship with his mother. Meanwhile, the crush he's nursing for rugby star Jonathon (Nathaniel David Becker) goes both unvoiced and apparently unrequited. His only pals are Max and Frankie (a straight couple)..Timothy's most important ally turns out to be Ms. Tebbit (Wendy Robie), an English teacher who's apparently the only woman at the all-boys school. Preparing to stage Shakespeare's fairy-powered romantic comedy, Ms. Tebbit defies both the arrogant rugby coach and the students themselves " none of whom are thrilled about reviving the Elizabethan custom of having boys play the women's roles. So dear Timothy prepares a love potion of sorts that once sprayed on someone, it makes them love you but it seems in this instance it turns everyone gay! The question I ponder is what if you had a love potion that once given to the object of your affection, it will make them love you! Interesting premise but anyways it was a fun movie albeit kind of juvenile..

(jp) wrote: john woo in his american debut directs a very badass action film. this movie is about a militia of hunters who hunt humans. after they kill a homeless man. the mans daughter is desperate to find her dads killers being unsuccessful she hires van damne or chance boudraex to help. and wow seeing this movie brought back a lot of "why don't modern action movies do this". "wow van damne is a badass". although at times its a little slow. a little lengthy the movie was a little long and at other times. its kind of unrealistic but if you can look past this its mindless action fun. that sadly you will never see again in Hollywood. entertaining actioner that van damne fans need to see

(br) wrote: Secret Honor is a dramatized & fictional account of Richard Nixon's bevy of emotions filmed in a stream-of-consciousness style on the eve of his resignation. He's all over the place: narcissistic yet self-deprecating; a headstrong leader who was manipulated by those who would use his thirst for power; a conspiracy theorist; a self-proclaimed man of the people who ultimately blames them for putting him into power; and, a man who battles with suicidal thoughts while contemplating his resignation. It's a really fascinating character study filmed in one room, with one actor. Phillip Baker Hall is amazing here. He doesn't resemble Nixon, nor does he really sound like him, but he does succeed in adapting his mannerisms and cadence of speech that allows the audience to accept him as the embattled president. This, of course, was anchored by the brilliant script and subtle direction on display. Fantastic film.
