The Piano Lesson
1930's Pittsburgh, a brother comes home to claim "my half of the piano", a family heirloom; but his sister is not wanting to part with it. This is a glimpse of the conditions for African-Americans as well as some of the attitudes and influences on their lives. But whether he is able to sell the piano so that he can get enough money to buy some property and "no longer have to work for someone else" involves the story (or lesson) that the piano has to show him.

He comes up with Million Dollar Arm, a talent competition searching for cricket players in India to convert into professional baseball pitchers. The film is formulaic in a typical Disney way and therefore is predictable in places. Despite this though, the film is still enjoyable and charming. I also thought the music choice throughout the film was solid and well selected.
(kr) wrote: A unnecessarily long movie, but if you stick with it you'll realize just how original and awesomely dark and funny this movie is. PS THIS MOVIE IS SICK SICK SICK! VERDICT: WTF!!!
(de) wrote: Sad, somber and slow yet good in its actuality of themes of obsessive love and separation. The title is based on a now-classic chill out track of the same name as the movie title which plays incessantly throughout the film. ( the older story represents the reincarnation of the current exwife )
(ru) wrote: Do humor about believers seems somewhat cheap and repeated, but Bill Maher is a smart guy who knows how to make this fun and original. This is a documentary that explores mainly the religion and its consequences in the world, showing interviews with various people around the world about their beliefs, a point to mention is the fact that it is sometimes burlesque and ridiculous, but bearable. 7/10
(us) wrote: Rather enjoyable--more of the same from the characters of Auberge Espagnole--but the pandering attempts to involve all the previous characters in the story made the ending weak and the movie over-long. On top of that, the premise is kind of stupid: why are all these people reuniting for the wedding of the younger brother of their friend (a marginal character in the first film)? The first 90 minutes or so, I forgave a lot, and liked a lot, but in the end the film's a bit of a misfire that leaves a bad taste in your mouth, making you forget about its earlier promise.

(it) wrote: Based on the novel by James Hilton that added "Shangri-La" to the lexicon, and directed by Frank Capra, it is a story about a famous diplomat played by Ronald Coleman, whose plane is hijacked and taken to a hidden valley in the Himalayas, where the weather is perfect, and people are kind and live to be hundreds of years old with very little aging. With Thomas Mitchell and Edward Everett Horton.
(us) wrote: Fantastic and stylish spy film is definitely an exercise in style over substance but is so fast paced and well played that it doesn't really matter that the plot makes no sense - the villains are trying to get a cypher that will tell them information that they already know - or something just as silly. But with filmmaking this stylish and fun - who cares.
