William W (jp) wrote: The story related to the problem created since the "one child policy" of China and the problem of high divorce rate. The story is a bit straight forward but it delivered some messages.

Freddie F (nl) wrote: The spiritual successor to Altman's Nashville. This is one of Linklater's finest films, a portrait of a machine unaware of its own mechanisms. The magnitude of the parallels presented through the various characters and scenarios is masterfully allegorical.

Victoria W (nl) wrote: Average. It's a good insight into the world of kidnapping in Venezuela, yes, but it's not very substancial as a film. And Mia Maestro can't act.

Jules E (au) wrote: Not as good as future Ozon works but still have the subtlety and layered messages that he's very well famous for.

John L (es) wrote: Why, why, **WHY**? This is a complete waste of time, production money and very good talent by Starz for TV Cable _*remake*_ of a highly acclaimed 1983 theatrical film. An adaptation of a stage play, the 1983 film with Albert Finney and Tom Courtenay received 5 Academy Award nominations for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor (Finney), Best Actor (Courtenay), and Best Writing (screenplay adaptation from another source). What on Earth does Starz think they can do to improve on the 1983 cinema masterpiece, even with McKellen and Hopkins? The answer is a big fat nothing; zero; nada; zilch. If they wanted The Dresser, they should have licensed the 1983 original for cable broadcast. Otherwise, do something creatively original. This remake is just one step shy of outright plagiarism and everyone involved should be derided and scorned for it. It's not that this one diminishes or damages the 1983 film. It's about castigating those that engage in attempts to remake cinematic masterpieces. They should not be rewarded, but punished for lack of creativity and originality. Maybe then we'll get to see new, original and creative material instead of weak and lame remake after remake after remake. If you want to see The Dresser, buy or rent the 1983 masterpiece, not this.

Jess G (fr) wrote: This postmodern film was full of undeniably fantastic acting and splendid imagery. The slow movement left me unsatisfied, and the movie doesn't quite have the magic of some of Bergman's other movies. But it was masterfully executed nonetheless.

Jacob K (ca) wrote: More of a coming of age story with a twist that was expected to excite but ultimately just let people down.
