Brea K (ca) wrote: Plot is difficult at times to follow, overall enjoyable but lacking in depth of story and character development. You're left wondering far too many things for a film so simple.

Magnus C (us) wrote: Extremely standard, but the surprising ending saves it. Danny Glover is terrefic as the drunken ex-armyman. The film also contains some great nature.

Frances Ann A (gb) wrote: Wonderful acting to be sure, and Annette Bening in particular truly shines. The story itself is somewhat thin, and not especially inspiring. As usual, Jeremy Irons spends 70% of his time smoking. If you take away the nicotine products, I'm wondering if he could still act? Just a thought.

Danielle R (ru) wrote: Had to watch it for my government class. Not the worst movie i have seen, but i wouldnt tell my friends to see it. It opened my eyes on the poverty around the world. It was slow, but overall, it was a good film.

Alex F (jp) wrote: I really liked this movie for how it showed the relationship between the main characters, it's not a movie in which a lot of things happen, it's low budget and it shows, but the dialogue, the banter between the characters is everything, a great script and great performances by O'Halloran and Anderson.

Luis G (ca) wrote: This is a really well written film, it definately has origins in the theatre. It films follows its play predecessor, it applies many of the theatrical special effects such as the typical "somewhat ironic" overdramatic lightening effects at the final scene. The plot itself is clever and has really been well thought out and the amount of twists and turns in this flim can fufil any die hard mystery/thriller fan. For that alone the film is worth a viewing, however, im not sure if this film is a great film solely because of the plot.I believe that there are quite a few faults that seemed to turn this film into a bit of spoof mystery, it is odd but i felt that half way through it could have been a comedy if it had been funny! The acting seems too over the top for my liking, though i feel that the its the characters themselves are meant overdramatic. Dyan cannon performance was the definition of this, she earnt a rassie nomination for her acting but i felt the character itself of Myra made her acting seem annoying and really over the top. I thought it was unfair to give her that title, her annoyance actually was a sensible plot point (not to give too much away).Michael Caine and Christopher Reeve suffered from the same symptom though to lesser extent and they were both charismatic characters and enjoyable actors to see on the screen. The soundtrack to this film struck me as a bit peculiar (harpischord in full swing!!), a bit 18th century england for my liking and it added to the "spoof" feel to this film. I think the bottom line to this film is that great plot, definately worth watching, it feels as if it should have stuck to a play rather than a film. Don't get me wrong, "play to film" films are a great and understand move, but being played in a cinema rather than a theatre has brought nothing cinematic to it, unfortunately. I guess its a great chance to see a great play!

Tom H (br) wrote: Classic Western with Jimmy Stewart playing a criminal on a road to redemption. This film has great scope and you can tell by looking at the film that it must have been a tough shoot.

Ian E (au) wrote: Feels more like an episode of a cheesy family TV show sitcom stretched thinly into a film length, let alone with its simple minded plot and being bereft of laughs.

Tatsuhito K (fr) wrote: The romance between Murphy and Headley is quite lovely and aw-inducing, and they have wonderful chemistry together. What I didn't really like about the film was that Murphy and Hall play multiple characters for no apparent reason. I thought it was very self-indulgent, and frankly, unnecessary. The supporting characters they portray have nothing to do with the story, and I really don't see the point of having them on screen. It is occasionally funny, but nothing gut-bustingly hilarious. I was rather disappointed by Coming to America.

Lovro H (ca) wrote: I think this is the cleverest movie I've ever seen! The only movie I can compare it to is "The Number 23", but that movie is not even close to the brilliance of "Pi"! Firstly, this is directed by Darren Aronofsky. A truly great filmmaker, who reminds me of David Lynch. This movie screams of art. The way it's filmed, the way it's structured is just extraordinary. Secondly, the story is quite a mindfuck. It's very clever and it really intrigues the watcher and makes you think, could this actually be true? The ending is very satisfying and I don't think it could've ended any other way. Thirdly, the acting is great. Sean Gullette was simply stunning as Max Cohen. All in all, a very interesting and clever movie which has some great acting and an intriguing premise. Would most certainly recommend!
