Jake M (ca) wrote: So as a big fan of David O'Russell I've decided to re watch Silver Linings Playbook, and I'm going to be honest for a film thats on the romantic comedy side this film is not bad at all. Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper are great in this film the two are good actors in general but with this film they do quite arguably one of their best performances ever. The film has a number of great cast members opposite Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper such as Robert de Niro, Julia Styles, Jackie Weaver, and Chris Tucker. If your looking for a comedy SIlver Linings Playbook is not for you to be honest I don't know why its listed as one on here, the film is more of a drama with the exception of some funny scenes but other than that the film is a drama about bipolar disorder. Silver Linings Playbook is an uplifting, feel good type of film that should not be missed by anyone.

Troy F (br) wrote: I personally assumed Class of Nuke 'Em High was a bizarre spin-off of Class Of 1984, which similarly had a group of rebellious, trashy students threatening other students and the school, though this one mixes in a major plot of nuclear waste leaking and causing chaos. Though I assumed this movie was meant to be cheap and silly, which can often be entertaining, here it's hard to tell when it's all coated in cheap production values, terrible acting, and no cohesion whatsoever. If there was any humour here, it was certainly forced. I love the concept and think it sounds bizarrely entertaining, but the actual execution here doesn't live up well to it at all. Maybe some good gore moments here and there, some goofy bad moments, but not enough to save a low-class effort. Troma's known for trash like this though, and it may be coming clear that their films are intended for a very specific audience I don't belong too. I usually have a soft spot for low-budget trash for good reasons, but I just couldn't with this one.

Lifeforce was one of their biggest films with a 15m budget in 1985.Filmed at Elstree, London and with a big British pool of film making talent more accustomed to Bond films this is a cult film from the era.Based on a seventies sci-fi novel The Space Vampires this film is based on the theme of space based 'vampires' that don't suck blood from their victims rather there life and souls 'lifeforce'.The film begins with a US/British joint space exploration of Halleys Comet aboard a space shuttle called the Churchill. The shuttle discovers an alien spacecraft in the tail of the comet which contains three humanoids in glass chambers. These human like aliens somehow break free and reak havoc in London of all places!Keeping up! Strange plot! The film contains so many elements of other films of the period (Superman and the Krypton baddies in the phantom zone, Star Trek, Bond London scenes and effects that try to rival American Warewolf in London). The cast is mainly little known but does include Patrick Stewart pre Star Trek with the last remnants of his hair!Michael Gothard (The Devils, For Your Eyes Only)The film reaches a crescendo in London with destruction scenes and puppetry effects to rival American Warewolf. For some reason Stewart is a Doctor at a mental institution in Yorkshire (I think he is from Mirfield near Huddersfield). For a film with such a strange plot and dodgy effects it does keep you watching.
