But that doesn't prohibit anyone from laughing with the really black humour involving personal misfortune, accidents of history and of your own making, grandparental home schooling, depression and its cures, Alzheimer's and its mercies, magnetic skull plates and nudism (don't ask). It was great fun and highly recommended if you can find it in the DVD shop! The 2003 Oscar was absolutely well-deserved.Favourite "Fakt": In nude dancing, after the music stops, not everything does.

Curtis R (es) wrote: Helen Stickler's brilliantly directed documentary on legendary vert ramp skater Mark "Gator" Rogowski whose rise to fame came crashing down after being convicted of the brutal murder of his girlfriend. I grew up in that part of North San Diego in the early to late 80's, so this film's skate footage and locales brought back memories for me of the places we roamed and people we idolized. Great sleeper film that I believe is comparable to Peralta's masterpiece Dogtown and the Z-Boys but 80's style.
Spencer H (jp) wrote: Not the best documentary. It covers the basics of the Grunge and beyond, but for the greatest rock movement it feels a little weak, I mean this was the BEST time for music and this movie is good and interesting but it is a little pedestrian. It continues grunge stereotypes and really makes Nirvana look like the best damn band that ever touched the earth. I LOVE Nirvana but whether they existed or not, the grunge movement would have happened at some point and all these books and movies make it seem like they invented the genre just because they were discovered first. It glorifies Cobain as a hero of a generation and that really takes away from it. A good movie but could have and should have been better.
Joel A (de) wrote: The follow up film from Shiraz that fails to match but is just as fun & melodramatic as it's predecessor. The story of a king who is mad gambler but scores big when he wins in a dice game & wins the most beautiful woman in the land.the husband of this woman vows to save her & wins back everything his castle, woman & servants in another game of dice 20 years later.Beautiful locations, exotic costumes & unforgettable art direction. It's a great film that looks better than ever now due to its careful restoration, a timeless early Bollywood classic.
Ryan V (us) wrote: The Next Generation crew bottoms out with this awful film. So bad and inept that they won't get another movie and Paramount would opt to reboot the better, more consistent cinematic successes of the original crew. Part of me wants to see The Next Generation guys get one more movie; their version of The Undiscovered Country. That way they could end their story with dignity. But it's highly unlikely that'll ever happen.
