Timothy F (au) wrote: The supporting cast definitely drags this film down. The intense drama addresses generational and cultural differences that are relevant beyond the experiences of recent immigrants. Though much of the film focuses on simple and straightforward dialogue, the main actors do great work in portraying the complex tensions eating at their respective characters.

Ben F (br) wrote: "Just Cause" was one of those movies that was set up in such a perfect way, and had one of the worst follow-throughs. It's really disappointing to see movies suck when they have so much potential, but this film is one of the best examples of that. It's been a while since I've seen this film, but from what I can remember, Sean Connery plays an author/lawyer who takes on a case of someone who is on death row and he attempts to prove that he is innocent, all while there are multiple things going on at the same time. The idea for it seems fine, like I said, it's just the execution. As the movie gradually progresses, you begin to learn that there really is no real depth to anything. Each characters personality is predictable and contrived. The performances from Connery, Fishburne and Harris are all meh, and that really takes the positive element out of it. You start to get bored after a while, mainly because you don't feel any attachment to the characters. The one main problem with "Just Cause" is that its been done a thousand times. It doesn't take any risks to set itself up as a unique thriller. It takes the easy way out, and for a premise like this, thats really not the way to go. Because the audience has seen this type of film a thousand times, they see the ending coming from a mile away. It's the predictability that ruins it. The Glincher siblings played it safe, and for a film like this, it was the wrong play to make.

Giovanni M (ca) wrote: Batshit crazy, 1941 is fucking insane. I can't give it above a 3 because of how messy it is, but dear god is it a fascinating mess. Spielberg directs this bizarre farce where explosions are punchlines. Belushi is classic Belushi and Aykroyd just spouts out technical jargon instead of jokes but it all somehow works. Nearly every line in the film is screamed; scratch that; everything in the movie is screamed. The visuals are screamed, the physical comedy is screamed, etc. 1941 is by no means a great movie, but a thoroughly interesting what-the-fuck movie that I'm still not sure I was laughing with or at, but I'm gleefully leaning towards the former.
David J (ag) wrote: Occasionally awesome, but usually violent as heck and mind numbingly dumb. Lives off of speed, guns, and scantily clad female navigators.
Brendan O (jp) wrote: This was kinda a weird movie, people trend to exaggerated how bat-sh*t insane some movies can be. With Santa Claus, no review can properly convey the sheer madness, its almost inspiring.
Graham M (ru) wrote: Pretty dumb horror movie. Also, ignore the box art; Simmons and Osbourne have such small cameos that I actually missed both of them
Felipe F (jp) wrote: While arguably flawed, Warm Bodies unrealistic tone adds up to its charm, in this funny and sweet romantic comedy/zombie movie.
