The Vampire Bat

When the villagers of Klineschloss start dying of blood loss, the town fathers suspect a resurgence of vampirism. While police inspector Karl remains skeptical, scientist Dr. von Niemann cares for the vampire's victims one by one, and suspicion falls on simple-minded Herman Gleib because of his fondness for bats. A blood-thirsty mob hounds Gleib to his death, but the vampire attacks don't stop.

Joetaeb D (ru) wrote: Deep down it's a parody of almost every rom com cliche in the book, which will turn off many as it's tone is artificial and too self aware. But They came together benefits from is star's funny chemistry and it'll find it's audience among those who hate most rom coms (like me).

Gerald T (br) wrote: A dramedy about a pope-elect with cold feet. The first 9/10th of the movie was good, but the last act needs serious rewriting. Interestingly, it is not the anticlimactic balcony scene that is the problem, but the incredulous theater scene before that which is the least believable.

Shrek 2 improves on basically everything - the animation, the story, character development - while passing on all Shrek 1's virtues - these being phenomenal humour and already introduced characters along with the world of the green ogre. Besides, just admit it - the "I need a hero" scene is just legendary.

Anyways, this is the 'Laserdisc' version I'm reviewing, starring well known Hong Kong actor of many martial art movies by the name of Yuen Baio (Dragons Forever, Wheels On Meals, Iceman Cometh) after some Japanese spies during WWII with it's goal was to finance the Japanese cause- at least that's what RT says. This movie also stars Hollywood actress Diane Lane which I honestly didn't know that the only Caucasion actress in the film was her until I saw her name and picture on the poster submitted by RT including providing a proper synopsis. Because I'm only basing this movie solely on 'action', I have to say theirs not very much of it showing only artistic landsapes and photography (which Chinese films do well and all the time) leaving with just the story adding up to a whole lot of nothing. A supposedly true account about the conflictions between the Chinese and Japanese during WWII, but perhaps if this version had some English subtitles on the bottom the rating may have been higher but as it stand now I only give it only one star out of four. 1 out of 4

Phillip J (fr) wrote: This movie was AWESOME!!! I grew up watching all the superman movies and they got pretty stale which is why they haven't made one in 20 years. This Superman has really outdone most of the others. I really felt the emotoin between Routh and Bosworth and didn't know her son was supermans until Lex got suspicious. It was a great reveal and the movie was outstanding. My wife is now in love with Routh!

Catherine D (mx) wrote: In post-war Germany, French Captain Henri Rochard (Cary Grant) and American Lieutenant Katherine Gates (Ann Sheridan) are thrown together for one last mission. By motorcycle and row boat, they work their way to their assigned destination, bickering all the way. On their overnight hotel stay, Henri pulls out his French charm with some massage oil and a back rub, but when a broken door handle leaves him trapped in her room overnight, he sleeps uncomfortably in the chair. He can't resist slipping into the bed in the light of dawn and naturally, by the time she awakes and finds him there, the maid has replaced the door handle, which works perfectly for her. While Henri tries to accomplish their mission on his own, he gets arrested in a black market hangout and Katherine completes the mission for him before springing him from jail. Their antagonism soon leads to some "French kissing" inside a haystack, followed by the decision to get married, which leads to a laughable pile of bureaucratic red tape. The necessary formalities require that they go through three separate wedding ceremonies, which they make it through intact, only to have their wedding night interrupted by army orders. Further red tape leads to Henri immigrating to the U.S. as Katherine's "war bride". The mishaps continue as he travels with hundreds of female war brides and ends up missing plenty of nights' sleep. To get on the boat to the U.S., Henri finally submits to the ultimate embarrassment, cross-dressing to become a true war bride until the ship has sailed and the two lovebirds are finally allowed some privacy together. This film must be fairly unique for its time in being filmed partly on location in post-war Germany, adding to its interest just to see the remnants of cities. To be fair, it has one of the worst film titles ever - would never have succeeded these days. And it's tough to believe Cary Grant as a Frenchman (especially since Ann Sheridan speaks French much better than he does)...indeed, it's difficult to see Cary Grant as anyone but Cary Grant. The film's plot and dialogue are nothing special, and both the couple's ordeals and their chemistry strain credulity, but it has its moments. Overall, a fast-talking war comedy about the distances we go for love, perhaps outdated in its sensibilities, but still with some punch to it.
