Jordan K (br) wrote: The Running Man is classic Arnold - jam packed with cheesy acting, the classic one liners, and plenty of action - this time, actually fulfilling a decent overall story but filled with a bland, dark atmosphere and feel.In 2019, Ben Richards is wrongfully accused of killing hundreds of innocent civillians, forced to participate in America's top rated television show The Running Man, a deadly gladiator combat oriented game show hosted by the slimy Killian. Arnold and his friends must fight for themselves against numerous "stalkers" and killers. The Running Man is just average. Nothing too special about it and not too much to say, it's decent but rather forgettable. Arnold delivers on his consistent badass performance yet again, playing the same kind of role in almost every action film he's in, but the other actors are a bit iffy - Richard Dawson is charming and hilarious and definitely stole the show. The Running Man has a compelling and interesting plot that isn't just an excuse for action eye candy and Arnold. However, the overall plot seems fine until it actually unravels its atmosphere - it feels very dark and even desolate, sort of, and gives off depressing vibes. Despite its promising overall storyline, an hour and a half of it can get very tiring and there's better Arnold scenarios under the same schtick out there. If you're looking for classic Arnold, The Running Man is for you - if you're looking for a classic action film, go for Terminator.

Samuel F (us) wrote: The fifth "installment" of the series takes a step in the right direction following the fourth movie, but not too much of one. A couple of clever moments work here and there, but the film has idiotic and insane characters, unremarkable performances and bizarre jokes touching on pedophilia, broken relationships, dementia and alcoholism. Still so-bad-its-good; still no reason to see a Home Alone film, save to laugh at it. John Hughes is rolling in his grave.

Gavin S (ag) wrote: Good doc on the Funk Brothers, who were the backing band on nearly all the Detroit-era Motown singles by the greats like Smokey, Marvin, Temptations, Supremes, etc. Nice to see they're still going as musicians (some of them) sad to hear about the lack of recognition. What stands out most is that this doesn't have the involvement of Berry Gordy or a lot of other Motown key people. Martha Reeves (of the Vandellas) is about the only interviewee from Motown....makes you wonder if there's bad blood, or if Gordy's ego just doesn't give room for the great musicianship of the band. (That being said, some of the band members were just a little cocky about how good they were and that they could have had anyone sing over it and it would have been a hit...which kind of negates a lot of the other genius at work in Motown).

Alex O (it) wrote: Brutal, disturbing and very dark. This film is harcore sleaze of the hishest level. It's still puzzeling to me that a film like this could be released to mainstream audencies. The subject matter at hand is rather taboo and is not for the squimish. Its not the greatest movie ever made but it is as advertised, that is if nasty unrelenting sexual humiliation is the advertisment. This film will leave youfealing violated. Watch with caution.

John S (it) wrote: Kirk Douglas is wonderful in this ??50s Western drama. Douglas plays Dempsey Rae, a free spirited cowhand looking to stay ahead of the taming of the west. Along the way he shows the ropes to a young tag-a-long played by William Campbell and gets into a mess over barbed wire. Overall this film is a fun, clich ridden romp to watch.
