Max L (ca) wrote: This movie made me, a Percy Jackson fan, very sad. From a casual viewer standpoint, the movie isn't too bad, just a little rushed and poor acting at times. But from a PJ gan standpoint, this movie was terrible. The movie was filled with inaccuracies after inaccuracies. I'm gonna say the bad first, then get to the limited good. The movie was so rushed with plot, that the characters feel boring and we don't get to understand them. A movie like this should be at least over 2 hours because of all the story. But instead, the director decides to just cut those scenes out. Percy going to a normal school with tyson as his main friend, grover looking for pan, percy NOT knowing his destiny from the oracle until later, circe's island, chrion's family, the sirens, annabeth tricking polymorpheus by calling herself nobody, and luke having an entire cruise ship, rather than a yacht. All of those things were not in the movie. Instead, percy finds out his prophecy IN THIS MOVIE, his time comes when he turns 20, not 16, grover was captured by luke, and oh yeah, kronos was successfully brought back then sealed back in his coffin within minutes. Now to the good things, Dionysus was perfectly cast and portrayed, chiron was pretty good, they managed to fix some things from the last movie, hermes was great, and clarisse was fine. I really hope they don't continue this series because nobody can get it right. You only get one chance at a first impression, and this movie failed making a good first impression, unlike something like harry potter.

The theme of impermeability although consistent is elusive, but the voyeur factor stays scrumptious throughout. Boys need to do more yoga s'all I'm saying...

John M (gb) wrote: Becoming the id. Allan (Woody Allen) is a man who has recently been left by his wife. He's trying to get back in the game, and the only way he is going to make it is through receiving advice and encouragement from his two friends that are married to each other and his inner Humphrey Bogart. I watched this because 1. It stars the great Woody Allen, and 2. It is less than 90 minutes long. Woody Allen has such a love of cinema, and it is reflected in all of his movies, even in the ones he doesn't direct. There's always some movie reference in the background, and his unabashed adoration of film is something I can relate to. Just going off of the plot description, you might imagine this is going to end up playing like the wonderful Purple Rose of Cairo, but it is never that ambitious; this is light piece with plenty of physical bits, which is really my only complaint about this. There are some really funny, laugh out loud jokes featured here, and it really doesn't need to resort to clumsy pratfalls as often as it does. At its core, it's sweet, and this is as Woody Allen as Woody Allen can be; he is playing the neurotic, insecure spaz that we all love him for. This is a truly a movie for anybody that has ever watched Casablanca and thought, "You know what this movie needs? Woody Allen."

Amanda D (fr) wrote: Bob Hope is never quite the same without Bing Crosby to play off of (though he does get a brief cameo), but the interplay between Roy Rodgers, Jane Russell and Hope is great fun. It's a lovely homage/satire of western movie conventions that never gets old.

Christopher A (gb) wrote: Gives you a peek into the strange world of cartoonist R. Crumb and his family and friends. A rare movie that not only entertains, but gives you insight into real life when we witness the madness and sadness of crumb and his brothers. It seems that Crumb's healthy sense of humor and his artwork are what keep him afloat. A truly intelligent and challenging film.

Matt H (br) wrote: Ranks right up there as one of the greatest gangster films ever. I put it at number 4 all time just behind The Godfather Part II, Goodfellas, and The Godfather.

Luke M (gb) wrote: There's nothing amazing about this adaptation, but its characters are likeable and the premise and execution have, for the most part, been well adapted from the source material.
