The Weight of Chains

The Weight of Chains

The Weight of Chains is a Canadian documentary film that takes a critical look at the role that the US, NATO and the EU played in the tragic breakup of a once peaceful and prosperous European state - Yugoslavia. The film, bursting with rare stock footage never before seen by Western audiences, is a creative first-hand look at why the West intervened in the Yugoslav conflict, with an impressive roster of interviews with academics, diplomats, media personalities and ordinary citizens of the former Yugoslav republics. This film also presents positive stories from the Yugoslav wars - people helping each other regardless of their ethnic background, stories of bravery and self-sacrifice.

Siva k (br) wrote: Muppozhudhum Un Karpanaigal 2012. Rating: 2/5 AVERAGE. Genre: Romantic Thriller / Action Drama Direction: Elred Kumar Production: Jayaraman, Elred Kumar Starring: Atharva Murali, Amala Paul, Nasser, Anupama Kumar, Jayaprakash and Santhanam Music Score: G. V. Prakash Kumar Cinematography: Shakthi Studio & Distribution: R. S. Infotainment Release date: February 17, 2012 Info: An uncomplicated as well as a predictable story dealing with trauma and one-sided love affair. A neither Romantic nor Psychological thriller film is directed by Elred Kumar who made debut as a director in Tamil with Muppozhudhum Un Karpanaigal. It was made in Tamil. Story: Ram (Atharva Murali) is a successful IT engineer from chennai living in bangalore with his girlfriend named Charu (Amala Paul) in her apartment. Few months later a new CEO Latha (Amala Paul) from America comes to India and joins in Ram's office at chennai. When Latha meets Ram, she claims that she knows him well, but unfortunately Ram refuses it. Later she finds out that he's suffering from delusional disorder. He lives in a world of delusion. The remaining story reveals the past connection between Ram and Latha. Further the movie reveals the conflicts such as, Reality vs. Delusion, Mother vs. Son, Girl vs. Boy, Friendship vs. Love, Psychology vs. Society, Psychology vs. Self, etc. Performance: This film is made well, rich in quality and productive in nature. Music, Filming and cinematography are good and worth to watch. Direction, screenplay, performance and characterization is just an average. A debutant director Elred Kumar have done a satisfactory job, whose narration is quite different but after sometime later, especially the second half of the film turns into dragging screenplay and plot order which leads to losing its grip. A word of appreciation goes to Elred Kumar for his first attempt to this industry. Atharva Murali has done a good job, fascinating but he was not properly handled on screen. Amala Paul performance is amateurish on screen also lacking professional skill. Jayaprakash performance is effortless and especially his characterization is not properly framed out in the film. Santhanam is a time pass entertainer but his performance is repetitious and who evokes boredom in film. Anupama kumar as Ram's mother who she has done her part well indeed. Analysis: Overall this film is filled with disappointments and dissatisfactions. There is neither surprise nor suspense throughout the film. The Basic and fundamental tools for a thriller adventure is completely failed in the screenplay. The essential tools such as planting, suspense and surprise, which are not placed in the right manner and also it is not enough to cope with psychological thriller adventures. There are lots of unwanted shots, scenes and songs which are unfolded with the screenplay in particular Ram's childhood montage are simply dragged for nothing. Stretching the shots and scene could have been avoided in film. Ram's occupation and the portrayal of IT professionals has not been properly scripted. Especially the psychological aspect of the film narration and the psychiatrist who could have been handled better. Screenplay and narrative structure goes without realizing the consequences leading to a poor climax. Finally this film loses its credibility due to poor content and lack of professional skills. Result: This film is supposed to be an edge of the seat thriller but unfortunately, the result stated the opposite outcome. Muppozhudhum Un Karpanaigal is an anticipated romantic thriller with emotional conflicts, love, romance, action, vengeance, twist and turns, sentiments, distortion of thoughts / identity, etc. This film doesn't meet expectations. Muppozhudhum Un Karpanaigal: A Polished Daydream / Action without vision Related Movies: Psycho 1960, Kudaikul Mazhai 2004, Kadhalil Vizhunthen 2008, etc. Tuesday, February 21, 2012 Siva

Dann M (ru) wrote: Robot Chicken once again delivers another brilliant and hilarious compilation of Star Wars animated shorts. In this feature the shorts are themed around Emperor Palpatine, which provides plenty of material for satire, but all the main characters get their fair share of spoofing. A couple of the shorts fall flat, however most of them are clever or absurd enough to bring the laughs. Its witty, irreverent humor makes Robot Chicken: Star Wars Episode III immensely entertaining and outrageously funny.

Tramanh V (ca) wrote: Touching and meaningful movie. I like Hayden Christensen much better in this movie than in Star Wars.

Jamie C (fr) wrote: Another very underrated Tony Scott film staring the much loved Denzel Washington, It Is a film of two halves, The first half is slow in places but the chemistry between Denzel and Dakota was brilliant and watching them build a bond was a very nice touch, Then when the inevitable happened the film got much darker and went very violent as it turns into a revenge movie, The action was good, The plot twists were predictable but apart from that it's brilliantly acted and deserved way more praise from critics.

Patrick W (fr) wrote: Ferris Bueller, you're NOT my hero. Dear sweet baby Jesus this was a bad movie. The lead track from the soundtrack was a P Diddy rap sampling Led Zeppelin's Kashmir song that even was laughable. Godzilla terrorizes New York City, we find out he is really a she (don't make fun or PC Principal will get you), builds a nest in Madison Square Garden and has babies that are like Jurassic Park velociraptors. This movie is so so so bad.

David B (gb) wrote: It's a film that you should never take seriously considering it's content. It's about a young lad who carries his deformed twin brother in a basket killing those who seperated them when they were children. The puppet creature is actually terrifying and has some simple scares but the acting and dialogue are awful and sometimes let's down the tongue in cheek moments. The idea and plot are good but that's about it and just about watchable considering when this was made. It was made on a very low budget and unfortunately shows, when as most horrors get away with it...this doesn't.
