(mx) wrote: This horror movie from Francis Ford Coppola is garbage. It looks like it was shot by someone fresh out of film school, everything visually looks cheap. Then the acting is unbelievably bad. Val Kilmer seems lost, with confused delivery and a random scene in which he shows off his talent for vocal mimicry...which is really out of place. The rest of the cast is either stiff or completely misused. The plot has some minor interesting elements, but they are all poorly executed. How did the man who made "Apocalypse Now" come to make this trite garbage? A really bad film.
(it) wrote: Funny and subtle. This isn't a film that plays down to its audience. You have to pay attention to what the characters are saying and you'll get all the little nuggets - ie. why is Stephanie attracted to Morris? One top critic said he wondered where Morris got the money to buy a plane ticket from .... ummm, if you missed that I have no words for you (*epic eyeroll*). People were laughing so loud I missed some of the dialogue. Loved it!

(de) wrote: The storyline is good, with an organic take on the Ultraman series. It sets things up for the TV show Ultraman Nexus, which is one of my favourite tokusatsu shows. The casting was meh. The music is very good, with most of it done by Tak Matsumoto of B'z. The whole movie just feels epic.
(br) wrote: Ron Silver perfectly captures Alan Dershowitz in philosophy and personality, but everything else (including Jeremy Irons' inexplicably Academy Award winning performance) disappoints, resulting in a less than thrilling, less than mysterious murder-mystery film.
