Eugene B (nl) wrote: Tim Story's Barbershop is more than just a haircut. The film is a comedic, dramatic and heart-felt experience. The cast (lead by Ice Cube) were pristine in regards to humor and a tight community feel. 4.5/5
Jonathan W (gb) wrote: Jim Thompson is my favourite writer of all time, and i think this movie captures the tone of his writing the best. Jason Patric is particularly good in the lead, with Bruce Dern also suitably sleazy.
Dannielle F (us) wrote: Im ashamed to say i own this, but its a guilty pleasure. Low budget Rambo Rip off with Ted Prior and William Zipp caught up in a sick for-real manhunt. It really is exploitation gone mad, muscles, gore, cheesy soundtrack, tits, guns, rape and old fashioned murder. The ending is the best and while im not one for revealing the end...almost everyone dies and ther's a great/cheesy sequence where Prior chops off the main bad muscle's arm off, then beats him to death with it(!). Directed by Ted Prior's brother, David. It IS awful but hilarious when intoxicated or just home from the pub.

Andy P (fr) wrote: Still one of my all time sports faves about a hometown bicyclist who is a huge fan of the Italian bicycle team. He and his friends are looked down upon by the snobbish university students from Greek Row. It's a root for the underdog kinda story. The actor who plays the dad gives an exceptional performance. The musical soundtrack is worth it, too. The screenwriter went to Indiana University where they hold the Little 500 bike race. The lead character was inspired by his friend at IU who did 169 of the 200 laps and was also a fan of Cincenzo (the Italian bike team). I took off half a star because of the unnecessary foul language. But the writer won an Oscar for this, his first screenplay.
Robyn M (it) wrote: Great comedy tribute to the Murder Mystery Genre written by Neil Simon.Peter Sellers and his now rather racist old Chinese man character disapoints on many levels. Its not terrible but its not great either, nice sets and a lovely film poster illustrated by Charles 'The Addams Family' Addams. Some legendary names in this line up such as Sellers, Guinness, Falk, Lanchester, Niven and Smith but that can't quite stop it from being rather silly and slightly disappointing in my humble view. If you think along the lines of 'Clue' then you will know the angle of this film, its just a bit more off the wall and I think, similar to poor taste characters.
Johan A (br) wrote: Frank Capras sista film r en inte helt lyckad nyinspelning av hans eget msterverk Lady for a Day. Manuset, om gangsters som hlper en alkoholiserad gatufrsljerska att ltsas vara miljonrska fr att hennes dotter ska kunna gifta sig, r dock s starkt att filmen trots allt r sevrd.
Jenna I (kr) wrote: Just a strange, strange movie. Hopper is either over my head with some brilliant method acting or he seems to have forgotten to read the script about 80% of the time (think Keanu Reeves). Strange cop-out ending too. That said, has a nice mood and young Hopper is pretty easy on the eyes.
Matt M (us) wrote: Inspired by a true story, this film stars a wonderful Susan Hayword in Academy Award winning form as a real life occasional prostitute, con artist and perjurer who is wrongly accused on murder and sentenced to death. It's an intense noir with a tension and suspenseful ending, as well as a good representation of its times punctuated by the jazzy soundtrack. The dig at an important issue like the death penalty is great and very thought provoking. But it's length, which comes close to two hours, is certainly its weakness.
Nico S (nl) wrote: It's a pretty by-the-books murder mystery in some places, but little bits an spices here and there show a little more to the plot and it all unravels in the end. Sean Penn really encapsulates the raw emotion of a grieving father and a ruthless criminal and Tim Robbins tragically portrays a man who never got over his past.
Kaiser S (jp) wrote: Fun movie with lots of nostalgia. Any gamer from the 80s will love this movie which is probably why it got such a low score. No one today knows how much fun hanging at the arcade was back in the day.
