Benjamin J (ag) wrote: The reasons the censors don't want you to see this film is because they've been releasing stuff that they think is a lot better and they'd hate to think that their time has been wasted. I like to view video nasties from the angle which their directors always defend them from: "I was trying to make a social comment". In some cases you can see what's being said (Last House on the Left, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, to some extent Driller Killer) and in others you can at least say you had a damn good time watching (Suspiria). However, others are just a hunk of exploitative shit where you think that it clearly wasn't the director's intention to say anything, and if it was then he failed catastrophically. This film fails to make any social comment whatsoever, nor does it paint a portrait of any kind of human mind, and it certainly isn't entertaining. The premise of a couple going on a killing spree and stopping for a bit of sex every now and then is not made any deeper or more profound by one of them being a religious, nor by one of them fucking a goat (which didn't make sense at all). A truly awful film that, luckily, hasn't been released in Britain- thus meaning that innocent people can not have their time wasted.
Kyle C (gb) wrote: Finally, Hollywood is back to making smartly written, well acted and absolutely stand up hilarious comedies. This is the 3rd or 4th in a row that just makes your stomach ache because you cannot stop laughing and Paul Rudd is easily becoming one of the funniest actors in Hollywood, if he wasn't already. He plays a man named Peter Klaven who has great relationships with girls, but not so much with guys, so he goes on a best friend hunt. He finally meets a man named Sydney Fife and the 2 hit it off and hilarity ensues. The story has a heart and many many laughs so I recommend this to any comedy fan.

This film does do a great job of showing the just how destructive a drinking life style can be. It just never gave me the story to go along with it or the care to make me care about the outcome of these peoples lives. It just always felt like a Lifetime movie of the week at best. The subplots are extremely underdeveloped. Octavia Spencer who is coming off a high with The Help is extremely underused. I always felt that an amazing performance makes a movie worth watching but can't save the movie from being poor.
