Facebook U (gb) wrote: A mildly intriguing look at marital life and strife told largely from an outside observer's perspective. While the story is capably handled and deftly told, however, I must also admit that there's not a lot here that's especially innovative, masterful or captivating. The sometimes-melodramatic narrative, with its allusions to infidelity and relationship discord, may be daring by Iranian audience standards, but it's hardly the stuff of groundbreaking material in the world of cinema at large. Also, its less-than-subtle metaphors grow a bit too obvious as the movie progresses. All in all, "Fireworks Wednesday" makes for a nice matinee offering but not a landmark work in the annals of filmmaking.

Adam S (ru) wrote: It is not without flaws, but I believe that the positives just outweigh the negatives by a slim margin. The cheesy humor is what keeps this film from flopping.

Charles M (ca) wrote: I didn't like the ending of this movie. It was too sad. Plus the trailer for it was so much more funny and I was expecting a romantic comedy, not a romance film with a sad ending. Frankly Scarlet, I don't give a damn!

Steve W (ru) wrote: Strong performances and focused narrative make this a memorable and gritty coming of age story. It focuses on three youths in 80's Los Angeles, a drug dealer, an up and coming football star, and a college man. The movie is tense and powerful without being preachy, and is one of the more sweeping writer/director debuts.

Caleb C (au) wrote: Surprisingly very dark this tale here based on a true story. I almost turned this one off due to the lack of great directing here that felt like something David Fincher or David Lynch would have made into a masterpiece. There is definitely some inspirations from those directors here in some cases. The acting was quite terrible here though up until the last half hour for some reason and the dark humor is treated very oddly here as well. Most people will not like this movie, I am sure. What I loved about this piece was how strange it all was and executed. I never knew about this story at all going in which is partly why, i liked it so much as well, I believe.
