THUNDER SOUL tells the true story of Conrad O. Johnson and the legendary Kashmere Stage Band. It was afros, pleated pants and platform shoes; James Brown, Sly Stone and Bootsy Collins. It was the ’70s, and an inner-city Houston high school was about to make history. Charismatic band leader, Conrad “Prof” Johnson would turn the school’s mediocre jazz band into a legendary, world-class funk powerhouse. Now, 35 years later, his students prepare to pay tribute to the man who changed their lives, the 92-year-old Prof. Some haven’t played their horns in decades, still they dust off their instruments determined to retake the stage to show Prof and the world that they’ve still got it.
Alumni from Houston's storied Kashmere High School Stage Band return home after 35 years to play a tribute concert for their beloved band leader who turned the struggling jazz band into a world-class funk powerhouse in the early 1970s. . You can read more in Google, Youtube, Wiki

(au) wrote: So deliciously cheezy! The acting was pretty meh, but the characters were so overboard with stereotypes it was amusing. I think I liked the sets the most, reminded me of like 1950's sci-fi. Since I went in expecting a mockbuster, and a mockbuster is what I got, I feel my rating is appropriate :)

(jp) wrote: Jerichow is a region in a part of East Germany that faces the Baltic Sea--it used to be in the GDR. A dishonorably discharged Afghanistan veteran Thomas returns to his home village of Jerichow. There after witnessing a wreck with a guy who was drinking he meets Ali who hires him as a driver. Ali (Hilmi Sozer), a middle aged Turkish immigrant who owns of a snack-bar chain in Eastern German . Then Thomas meets Laura, his Turkish boss's young & attractive wife (Nina Hoss who is very beautiful). Thomas ( Benno Furmann) was in the Army during the war in Afghanistan he is at his mother??s funeral & he has confrontation with business man he owes large sum of money to. So between them begins a classic love triangle. Petzold writes & directs a fine, tight film about 3 characters, each with a dark side to their character. It is a well directed & acted drama about a love & lust for the 3. The Ali character is the rich macho acting *ss*ole--he is not a happy man. The wife is the submissive beauty. Thomas is the quiet stoic strong army guy needing money & job. There is a resemblance to both versions of 'The Postman Always Rings Twice', also similar to the films by the late Reiner Werner Fassbinder Robert Bresson, & others.(as mentioned by others) This is an austere film making from director Petzold whose works are not well known in this country. The cinematography is really terrific & beautiful set in the desolate northeast Germany, where thick forests suddenly end on cliffs overlooking the Baltic Sea . The film also captures a social portrait of newly multicultural Germany, at least as it extends into the country's forgotten rural interior. The film does a good job giving us people in the dead ends they face & in the spiritual emptiness that causes people to do desperate things in search of happiness. In the end Ali ends up earning some of our sympathy is a testament to both Petzold's smart script & Sozer's deeply nuanced performance, a trait shared by his two co-actors.

(gb) wrote: great epic war movie that separates itself from its competitors by having a great story. Achilles is a straight beast. this movie did a great job of making root for so many opposing characters. lots of memorable scenes. (2 viewings)
(it) wrote: "Because I dream, I am not."Funny, sad, strange, different, even disturbing? That's how I felt while watching this masterpiece, but you'd have to see for yourself.Leolo focuses on a young boy who doesn't really relate to his family, so he goes on his life in rather different, but interesting ways. Is what's happening fiction or reality? This film never gets old every time I watch it.
(mx) wrote: A fine sequel to the horror movie Pet Sematary which i loved. And Edward Furlong from Terminator 2 was awesome in this movie. GRADE:B
(ru) wrote: Is there anything wrong about this film. With comedy to fit its unique style, the movie is one of the best, and most memorable films of the 1990's.
(mx) wrote: Different. The ending was.. well, it made me laugh! Really good. I liked the black & white 'quality' of the film. The scenes "in between" the storyline were very beautifully shot (cliche but they did remind me of tarkovsky's work). Nice indeed!
(fr) wrote: This one is not easy to get a hold of ( no dvd release as of right now) , but if you can and appreciate Ninja flicks, I highly recommend it. It may seem a little cheesy to today's younger generation, but in the hype of the 80's Ninja movies - this one has got it all. Great fight scenes and the most Ninja weaponry skills that I've ever seen displayed on film to this day. Sho Kosugi was great as the bad guy, Hasegawa,(along with playing many of the masked bad guys chasing the lead through his final Ninja test in the opening of the film)and actor Franco Nero's (Cole) efforts were pretty convincing as the newly graduated American Ninja (with a lot of help from Martial Arts great and writer Mike Stone behind the white mask). The opening of the film with Kosugi doing fantastic Katas with weapons to the Ninja test was too cool. All scenes were beautifully shot and the chase/battle between rivals Hasegawa and Cole through the test was awesome. The landscape, weapons, and uniforms of the Ninjas in this film had the appearance of authenticity. Along with many neat fights in between, the final battle is still one of my personal favorites, as jealous Hasegawa is hired out (with evil pleasure),by badger tycoon Mr.Venarius, to assassinate his rival. A must see if you can find a copy of the film
(es) wrote: Pretty bad western. Warren Oates as a sneering villain was the only reason I didn't turn it off. And Lee Van Cleeve has his shirt off enough to rival the wolfboys in "Twilight". That's a plus or a minus depending upon your feelings about Lee.
(nl) wrote: Basket Case is a perfect example of a low budget treat... As a whole the film was actually quite intriguing, it's very different from the normal type slashers from the 80's and with such a peculiar plot, makes a pretty gripping film. The special effects were all pretty good, even the eccentricities of the clay animation and as a whole Kevin Van Henenryck is a pretty average actor, but he fit the part.
(gb) wrote: This movie did follow the book, but however, there are a lot of things they should have fixed. I didn't feel attached to the characters, and I was practically waiting for it to end. And to top it off, they didn't even have a love connection until they made out. But there was some of the good things, like characters were good choices. Over all, okay movie.
(kr) wrote: This is not a bad movie to me, but it misses such a big opportunity of telling the Steve Jobs story. Sorkin & Boyle's "Steve Jobs" gets closer, but still doesn't nail it either. I think Jobs' story is about exploring what made him tick more, and why, instead of so much emphasis on what happened from him ticking vs. everyone else's tocking.I like Kutcher as Jobs here. He's the strongest part of this film. But the cast around him, other than the Jony Ives character feel more like impersonations than embodiments. The music is often way too sentimental and trying to force us to care. Definitely a film worth seeing as a hopeful appetizer to the eventual masterpiece film about Jobs that's out there in the dirt waiting to be dug up.

(gb) wrote: I feel like i cant review this movie honestly, and without prejudice since i'm a huge fan of the original 'Firefly' show, but man does this movie deliver on all levels. To enjoy this movie fully you would have to have seen the series first, It's sheds (more) light on things we did and didn't already know which makes this movie so much more fun to watch. The fun characters are back, Whedon's always great snappy dialogue is also top-notch yet again, the better big budget special effects really enhance the movie as well, which was something the show didnt have the money for. It answers many unanswered questions, and informs us on things you didnt really wanted to know, but are still cool to know, but then again, the movie makes us ask questions that leave unanswered, and it doesn't answer ALL question we had about the show, which is the only reason why i dont give it a full score. All in all 'Serenity' is immensely satisfying, and great on all levels, and it surely doesn't disappoints. When watching you'll just feel great to see this fun group of people back on screen for 1 last adventure.
