The wife, Golden Lotus, is an attractive young former maid who had been forced to marry Wu the Elder as punishment for getting caught in bed with her master by the master's wife. She takes a liking to the handsome, strong Wu Song, who rebuffs her attempts to seduce him. When Wu Song is sent on a long journey, the wife begins an affair with a rich local merchant. When Wu Song returns from his mission, he is met with shocking news which sets off a series of violent acts of retribution.

JY S (gb) wrote: It is no secret that Japan is able to come up with these whacked out stories. This rape-revenge thriller concept falls into this category, but director Takashi Ishii doesn't take advantage of it. We just end up with a disappointing thriller. You have a young woman who gets raped by 3 men, who then years later decide to do it again. So she decides to kill them and store their bodies in freezers. That sounds like it has some potential to entertain right? It is too bad that the film itself isn't as interesting as the plot. The biggest annoyance of this film is the main character, Chihiro. It's not the acting that is bad, but it is the character's decision making. It is because of this that you don't feel as bad as you should every time the rapists feel her up or penetrate her on multiple occasions. This film has a ton of nudity, which is fine. We have many a scene with Chihiro showing us her boobs. It is not only during the rape scenes either. This movie finds the time to get in a couple of normal sex scenes with her boyfriend in the middle of all of this. All the nudity may catch your attention, but in this film it feels like the scenes go on and on just so you can see her cleavage for just a few more minutes. I mean, how many times do I need to see her go into the shower? If I want to see a film with some story and a beautiful women strutting her stuff, then I will watch a soft core porn. This is not a soft core porn the last time I checked. The acting is OK. Harumi Inoue does a decent job with the lead and the 3 rapists are good. You really want to see them die.Unlike The Machine Girl, which takes the good guy killer story and runs with it, this one just takes a slow walk and doesn't really go anywhere.

Mattias E (it) wrote: With quite a few meta levels going on and some obvious autobiographical and self-reflectory features, Irma Vep is hardly meant to be taken too seriously. Stylistically, Irma Vep definitely pays tribute to the nouvelle vague, while from the point of view of content it makes a mockery of the self-absorbed tendencies in French cinema that sprung from it. Jean-Pierre Leaud's parodic take on the self-obsessed director is just great and Maggie Cheung, even though she seems genuinely lost at times, carries herself pretty well too.

Gary C (br) wrote: No one really liked this movie but watching it from start to finish the twist kinda caught me off guard good acting but better story line and ending

Joseph W (mx) wrote: Just watched for the first time. Having not seen this and watching it when it was 17 years old, I think this was a great watch. It's so painfully dated that it makes it quite funny, Jon Voigt in a b-movie Deliverance. Takes inspiration from the latter and also from Cannibal Holocaust, and a smidgen from Jurassic Park. A movie worthy of Sci-Fy channel's B Movies, but with a huge budget. Good fun. Particularly loved Voigt being eaten by the snake with an inside view.

Matt H (nl) wrote: A light, silly movie. I'm not a huge Audrey Hepburn fan, but she's solid here, and Peter O'Toole is awesome as usual. His role isn't that great, but he always can elevate any material he's in. Might have been a little outdated even when it was released, but it's innocent nature keeps it enjoyable.
